Question about landing pages

How do I make a landing page? Is there a great tutorial out there (preferably free)? Do most people use wordpress for their landing page? And do I also include other info on the site aside from that one landing page?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Any software that let's you create forms is useful for a landing page. The example you mention, Wordpress, is one of the best - it's literally a case of creating a page, embedding the forum you want plus other elements (text/images etc).

Don't forget about analytics, you'll need to use this to track the performance of your page/copy.

the landing pages that worked out or me was

    1. a attention grabbing good head line
    2. Bullet points of benefits (not features)
    3. a call to action to click on the link ( i usually just use a hyperlink that says click here for more information)

if the landing page is preselling an affiliate product. let the main sales page do all the selling.

Go to theme forest, look for a landing page template and fill in the blanks, it's that simple. Then, go to youtube and learn the fundamentals of ftp and you'll be good to go.

Contrarily to what many people might think, you don't need special software to build websites, especially something as simple as a landing page. You can build complete websites with nothing but notepad. But since you're a beginner, I suggest you look at a wysiwyg editor like NVU.

You know some people do not agree on what a landing page is. Since I started in the business before the word squeeze page was out then I will tell ask you a question so I can answer your question.

I think you are asking how to do a squeeze page. A squeeze page is an optin page while a landing page is more of a page with detailed information on a product. Back in the old days we called landing pages doorway pages.

Now if that is correct the best way to create one is with lead rocket pro or a similar software. That is a paid software but you have free ones out there like landing page creator and so forth, these are wordpress plugins so you will need a wordpress site.

Your best bet is to to sign up to as many things as you can and watch the squeeze pages come in.

Always try to use the guru style squeeze page when you start, you can experiment later but you want conversions at first.

Another good software is guru rotating.

Also remember to keep your optin above the fold. Which means they do not have to scroll to see it.

If indeed You are asking about a squeeze or opt-in page here is what have worked for me:

      1. Use a video to tell your story []Videos have the highest conversions thus far]
      2. Keep it under 90 seconds [You can use Fiverr.com]
      3. Have a 1.2.3 sign up process [Asking for more info than that - i.e .First. Last Names and Email- is going to annoy people]
      4. Have your video somewhere prominent on the page [Above the Fold is best]
      5. Always have that Privacy clause letting people know that You are not going to trade, or sell their info to 3rd parties.

It really isn't as tough as you think.

What's your goal for the landing page?
Are you using it to capture leads?
Or, would it be just to introduce the rest
of your website? I published a video which
    may help you with this.

It's mainly geared towards capturing leads
but you can omit the autoresponder element
and the video will show you an easy (free)
    way to set one up.

I prefer to have a scenic background, something like a holiday resort, remote beach, as these have been shown to convert well (ie capture emails). Then use a catchy title above a video which will increase enough curiosity to have the visitor leave their email address.

I use a landing page which is most often the sales page for the product. However, I use Aweber split testing popover forms which are very easy to set up to offer a free product to get the visitor to subscribe, it is more important that they subscribe than buy the product.

The form drops in from the top after about 10 seconds. Then when the visitor subscribes they get taken to the thank you and please confirm your subscription page with a one time-offer.

After they have confirmed they get an email taking them to the download page which also has a link to the original offer on it. I simply copy the index.html page to something like index-1.html and remove the pop over code (one line) and put it on the website. Then they can read the original product sales letter without being pestered by a popover.

The download pages etc can usually be made from the salesletter template by removing most of the text and leaving the graphics.
