This is one of the most profitable niches you can get into. But you need to nichify your approach.

e.g. Do not go for weight loss, go for a section of the niche like weight loss for men in their fifties. Or weight loss for chocoholics, or weight loss for teenagers.

You need to start somewhere and then you can broaden things once you have traffic to your website.

No chance of saturation, unless everyone moves from their current niches/markets into weight loss. Then that would be a lot of people.

I have a site targeting fitness and i tie in weight loss with products and articles pretty smoothly. No saturation here.

You need to think things a little differently. Instead of seeing possible saturation just see it as competition. And when you see it as competition just think of the ways you can be better than them then do that.

I've even been in niches with almost no competition. When there's no point of reference to know what you need to be better than, it can be a little challenging. I wish there was even one other product in some of my niches just so i knew what benchmark of quality i had to surpass.

See competition as a positive challenge. You will make more sales, please more people and do better overall if you style yourself better and more effectively than your competitors.

Saturation then turns into this beautiful vehicle of your own self growth, because you're forced to do better and better.

Thanks Ken, But I'm not interested in SEO & ranking for a subniche.
I want to build a list that people on it want to lose weight either teenagers or elders. I will not use paid ads so I can't target my traffic.

      Regards,

There are some interesting trends about weight loss. For instance, you probably know that people make a major push to lose weight as a New Years Resolution, right? But the interesting thing is, that major push peaks in only about 4 days.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying there's no action after those first four days of the year...because that's not true by a long shot. But there are also other trends related to weight loss that would be a good idea for you to learn more about that can make it easier for you to put your site in front of a great and responsive crowd.

Take a look at a book called "Click" by Bill Tancer to gain more insight not just into the weight loss niche but also other niches and the trends that can be found in search engine research. Some of what he reveals in this book is surprising.

A new weight loss millionaire is made every single day, so the weight loss market is not saturated.

Market saturation, for the most part, is a myth and the weight loss market (and many of it's niches) is a good example of this. New customers enter this market every few seconds and there are also plenty of rabid customers who buy every weight loss gimmick they can get their hands on.

Now having written that, this market is not for the faint of heart either. You have to have a compelling USP, a compelling offer, and you have to offer a real solution.

If you look at a product like T25 or P90X, they were beta-tested with real people for many months before their massive market release.

You don't need a product like that to make it in this market, you can market other people's products and still do very well.

there will always be fat people trying to take the easy way and lose weight without working hard, it can never be overly saturated, same with porn, and muscle building offers.

Weight loss is a HUGE market and evergreen. Since its evergreen it'll always be profitable.

"Saturation" is a scary word for some beginner marketers and newcomers and consequently they walk away from some markets. But the reality is that you are leaving huge money on the table. Theres a HUGE pontetial in these so called "saturated markets". You need to understand that theres money to be made there. Its plain and simple.

The term "saturation" is honestly a big myth, a huge lie. Its a mind thing actually. This myth is spread to get people to change from a PROVEN money making system to something UNPROVEN.

Unless you have some great marketing skills or a unique way for people to lose weight you probably don't want to try breaking into that particular market. But you can dig deeper and find tons of niches with their relative sub niches and micro niches. Theres an ENDLESS supply of sub categories/sub niches and micro niches inside this market.

Weight loss is the main market then theres

"losing weight to look good on the beach"
      "love handles"
      "man boobs"
      "liposuction weight loss"
      "losing weight during pregnancy"
"How to lose weight if you are a drinker"
      "weight loss health spas"
      "weight loss in a week?"
      "kim kardashian weight loss"
      "liquid diets"

      Dig deeper.

Research an HUNGRY crowd in a niche that isn't "saturated". There are hundreds of thousands of highly profitable niches out there!

Make sure there is at least some competition. Competition is good, because it means money is being made in the niche!

Here's a quote you might interesting from an online article from US News & World Report:

According to data by Marketdata Enterprises, a market research firm that specializes in tracking niche industries, Americans spend north of $60 billion annually to try to lose pounds, on everything from paying for gym memberships and joining weight-loss programs to drinking diet soda.
Americans spend over 60 billion dollars per year just to lose weight. It's a massive market. And it ties in well with other huge markets like fitness and health.

There's a lot of repeat purchases made and the up-selling and cross-selling opportunities are nearly infinite.

Some of the bigger companies that you are familiar with today started out in someone's living room, you're only limited by your imagination, work ethic, and marketing savvy.

I think there is not a lack of niches, But what I'm asking for is the buyers niches, Education niche will not generate income as nutrition. Because most student are more likely interested in Pizza and beer than buying educational Ebooks. :p:p

As others have said, the concept that a target market is "saturated" is largely a myth. Having lots of competitors in a market niche is simply a sign that there is money to be made in that niche.

A market niche with few competitors most likely means that the niche is unsuitable for making good profits (or it's something brand new - which is unlikely these days).

That said, I wouldn't go against the advice to find a smaller, more specific market niche inside the "weight loss" major market space. Without specifying a smaller niche in that market you'll be going up against competitors with very deep pockets, long search engine histories, huge and efficient customer lists, etc.

You'll definitely increase your chances of online success by being "a big frog in a small pond" rather than being just another "me too" in a big lake.

    Hope this helps...

  • As long as there are Burger Kings and fast food.
And supermarkets crammed full of process food.
People will need to lose weight.
people are looking in the mirror everyday and saying to themselves
I need to lose # of pounds
People will always be entering this niche

Those are insanely broad questions. If you want to go into this niche you may want to consider Ryan Deiss' blogging model that he's been yammering on endlessly about the last couple of days.

I love the guy and I like SOME of his stuff, but sheesh.

Anyway, going back to your point ... unless you are a VERY skilled marketer I would also recommend digging pretty deep into the niche and start by going after a pretty small ultra-sub-niche.

Let me give you an example. If you do a search on amazon for my name you'll see a book on running half marathons. That's a small segment of a much broader overall market.

    Hope that makes sense.

till the end of time this is an awesome niche.

yes it has competition, but that means people are making money in this niche and LOTS OF IT TOO.

What you have to do, is get leads daily and set youreself apart from all the other blathering idiots who just sell.

Its about education, entertainment, content and then OFFERS.... most people in this niche do the OFFERS first, nothing second and do not make sales.

If you can engage, build daily leads, entertain them, while educating, you can give them a sniff of your offers and mix it in, and sometimes they do not even know. HARD SELLLING these days, is not the best way, SOFT SELLING TO prospects in this niche is very rewarding for the person how is hard working.

We been in this niche for years, and that is our formula and it works wonders.
