or have some paid help?

I personally prefer to build my own sites myself, not really sure why, probably because web design is just so expensive to have done right! haha

Hmm.. I think you should build it yourself if you know how to do it better. If not, then have an expert done it.

If you know building sites well, then why should you someone else. I think it would be better one building it himself but I think it would also depends on other factors such as time.

This really comes down on how skilled you are. And also how much time you have on your hand.

I do mostly my own stuff, but not always. You have to learn when it makes sense to put in your own time and make it exactly as you want and when to trust someone else to do the job and you can afford to come out a little different than you imagined.

If you have all the time to learn and do things by yourself then by all means build your own site/s. If time is not on your side then it's best to set a budget and outsource the things that you cannot do by yourself. Remember that time is money. It's always best to have an honest assessment of your time and skills. In this manner, you will not be wasting a lot of your energy, time and money.

It really depends on you..if you know how to do it then build it yourself but if not and you have the money to spend then better hire someone.

I built my own site because I love to learn how to do it. Not that fancy website but I'm proud to have it.

If you don't know how to build a site on your own, then I would hire someone.

The best way to learn how to create your own, even if you don't know how to do things, is to take baby steps and learn a lot from mistakes.

You should built you presence yourself if you mean it in terms of branding yourself. Of course if you don't know how to built a website you can hire somebody to do it. But everything else especially the branding of yourself is a thing nobody should take from you. Because it's you who wanna make this business a success and it's your personality which will bring customers buying from you!

You could do both. I would personally do it myself so. Personal preference. I wanna save as much money as possible on my end. I dont build high end sites or marketing funnels anyway though.

Obviously you'll learn more by building (and marketing) your own websites, but at the cost of distracting you from running your business.

Also consider this: Were you the best possible driver when you first learned to drive? Was the first time you did anything really the best it could be? Professional website developers have learned a lot from building dozens of websites. What is the probability that building your own first website will give you truly professional results?

Also, you must avoid the attitude that your website must be exactly how YOU want it, not what is actually best FOR THE VISITORS in your chosen market niche.

As an experienced professional website developer, I've seen more than one client sabotage their own sites with this beginner's egoistic attitude.

    Hope his helps...

When you say web presence you mean your entire online business? I think it makes sense to outsource something if your not an expert. Like graphics or the occasional copywrtiing. Thinks like backlinking though I think DIY is better you keep control and know who you are linking to and its more natural. Do what you can and outsource the rest. The more you do the more you will learn
