What are some good resources for learning how to grow and run an internet marketing company? There's plenty of resources talking about how to do the marketing, but nothing about how to run a successful internet marketing business specifically. I'm looking for answers to questions like what's the best way to find new prospects? How do I price the services? How do I report results? How do I convince customers to come back? How do I keep my team organized? Is there a point to documenting our processes? When should I hire/fire someone? Etc

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Hey Fangenator,

    You ask some really good questions but the answers are not so easily given...IMO. To answer the questions properly, what specifically are you looking to do with internet marketing? Are you doing informational products, physical products, coaching or what? Each one of those methods and other methods will have a different structure to it and you would handle it differently.

    I would recommend you read E-Myth Revisited. This will help you understand a good deal on how to go about looking at your structure.

    More specific questions would need to know a little more about what you want to do. Speaking with an attorney and a cpa or tax accountant would help you know what you need to track and what needs to be reported.

      I've tried to answer a few times in the past 30 mins or so.. and scrubbed each answer before posting! Its a tough one without knowing more detail.

      It seems you want to start a traditional marketing business providing 'internet marketing services' to clients - perhaps small business owners? Is this correct? And from which country?

(you check out the competition and see what the market pays. You always test test test and then stay with what out-pulls the other prices.) How do I report results?     Online or offline businesses, there is not one successful business in the world that does not work to some kind of business plan.

    From the biggest global corporations’ right down to one man (or woman) operations, if a business is to be successful, then there must be a well-thought plan in place to define how that success will be achieved.

    The best way to manage your business is to operate on the principles that have governed successful ones for years.

    Internet marketing is a broad term, and personally I think its more focused on selling and automating the selling.

    Do you want to be a salesman?

    You seem more of a enterprising person. I would suggest looking to create your own product and outsourcing everything else.

    Look at the millionaires online, what did they do. What are they doing different from the rest.

      Choose one area of IM that interests you first, otherwise you'll get hit by information overload.

      Spend a week reading, reading, reading, there is free good info all over the internet. When you have decided on your specialization start buying top products from top marketers who are experts in the specific area you have chosen.

      If you just set up shop and don't have any expertise how and why should customers trust you ?

        Thanks everyone! Those are some great resources.

        I'm more interested in establishing a company that provides online marketing services to small businesses. My original question could have been phrased better. What I'm really looking for are resources related to the business side of running a company like that instead of the how-to, technical stuff - for which there are a bajillion resources for.

        Is there any business advice/resources for internet marketing service companies out there?
