How to allocate comission when sale arises from guest interview?

When affiliate marketing is done via email, the tracking of the affiliate relationship for commission is taken care of by shopping cart functionality, so the referrer will always be fairly paid. But how does it work in the case where sales have come from other affiliate channels, where the shopping cart cannot track the referral?
I have an upcoming interview with another guru. The interview will be recorded and sent to his list. Obviously I will give my web site details toward the end of the recording. How do we ensure that if one of his listeners visits my site and purchase on the back of the interview, the he gets fairly rewarded for this sale?
