Transfer posts from one blog to another, old site will be deleted

I need to transfer blog posts from one WordPress site to another. I know how to do the export and the import. Here is my predicament. Typically when you do this, you will do a 301 redirect from old site to new site. However, in my case the old site will be going away completely. I realize that I will be losing some SEO value from the old site but I have no other option. How can I ensure that google deindexes the old site and picks up the posts on the new site? I don't want duplicate content issues.

I did this before only the original blog is still in use so I know this to be effective and safe.

I simply copy and pasted the content (upload photos to the other site as well), however after I pasted and before I published I deleted the post from the original blog then did a manual sitemap..

Published the content on the new blog and then did a manual sitemap for that blog as well just a minute later.

This tells the search engines that the content was gone from blog A at such and such and only on blog B at a later time

    Hope that helps,

When the posts on old blog are deindexed, you can put them on your new blog, it will not considerd as duplicate. It's completely safe, but make sure posts are deindexed before you go ahead on new blog.
