Flippa - Advice For New Seller

Hey Guys

I have been out of internet marketing for a couple of years due to personal reasons. I decided to get back into it but this time around start selling new websites on Flippa.

I noticed that this forum is the place to ask my question as I learned quite a bit from here before I started. There are some people on this forum who are really helpful and know their stuff.

I have started off small, and made a few sales so far. I have learned a lot from these sales but still a little in the dark on some things.

Basically I have been selling attractive websites but they are cookie cutter, I am not a designer and this was a quick way for me to start learning. I have increased the value of these websites by finding pretty decent domain names. Taking out the plr content and adding unique articles, backlinking the websites and in the 2 sales had them ranking at Yahoo and Bing before the end of the auction. With my 3rd sale the site ranked shortly after the sale.

I have had 2 listings now that haven't sold. The first one would have sold the first time I listed it. I had an experienced buyer hit my reserve price. I made a mistake and accepted a new bidder after that who hit the BIN. He asked me to send him an invoice through Paypal. He kept telling me in the Flippa message board that he paid and never did.

I won a dispute and offered it to the experienced guy who hit the reserve but he didn't take the offer. I re-listed but only had brand new people bidding. I rejected 2 out of 3 hoping to get another experienced bidder but nobody with experience showed up and the re-list didn't sell. I have re-listed again and this site has a first page Yahoo ranking. This re-list closes tomorrow and I have the most watchers I have had so far 11 of them. I started out with 10 in the last re-list.

Last night I had another listing close and it didn't sell either. I brought it to auction as soon as I finished putting the site together so it isn't ranking.

I would be more than happy to link to my sellers profile and auctions so you guys would have a better idea of what I am doing but I haven't seen anybody else do that on here so maybe it's a bad idea?

Any help or insight would be awesome. I would be greatful

BTW I have one sight I have been grooming for a bit the topic is close to my heart so I want to really increase the value of it and hopefully make it my biggest sale when it's ready.

Sorry after reading my post again I realize there isn't any specific questions. I have a couple:

    1. Being pretty new to Flippa and selling new sites that have only been built out to a degree, should I just accept new bidders. Accepting them worked against me once but for the same website on the re-list I think rejecting 2 of them also worked against me.

I have now put in my listing description "only bid if you are serious about purchasing this website". I also wrote in my listings "Bidders without any purchase history please message me before you bid. I have a couple of questions to ask you." Is this over doing it? Are there any other ways to weed out non paying bidders?

At what price point would you consider using escrow.com? In my first 2 sales I used them but one guy sent them a check and the other buyer made a mistake when filling out his banking info in both cases it took me weeks after the auction was finished to see any money.

With all of the fees and extra fees for having money wired to my bank account in Canada the profit was low. The third sale I used Paypal money came fast and fees were low. My first 2 sites sold for $200 and the last sale through Paypal $160.

If anyone can help that would great. I could pm my listings and sellers profile.

    Hi there

I am also interested in flipping sites, I wonder if you would be good enough to tell me. How do you know if a buyer is "experienced"

Do you get to see how many purchases they have made in the past?

    many thanks
    David
