Comments, Engagement, & Discussions

Hey guys It's Danny here asking for some advice!

I've written almost 20 blog posts and for some reason none of them have comments.

My website is new and gets around 40 views a day on average. Yes I know this is chump traffic but It's all I got to work with so far.

My question is, how do you get people to leave comments on your posts?

It can be discouraging to feel like you're writing to an empty audience. I figure I must be doing something wrong after all that I've written.

At the end of the articles say "I would love to hear your opinions in the comments below" or something along those lines. But in my experience the post that get the most comments are the ones that touch on the readers passions, beliefs, or curiosity's.

Don't get to discouraged, 40 hits per day is a great starting point, as the audience grows, comments will come naturally, especially if you hit on one of the things I listed above.

Thanks for responding! I have been doing as you say and including a call to action at the end of the post. Still no comments though.

I agree with you in that the ones that are most effective are most likely the ones that resonate with my readers passions.

      Is there anything else though?

Just to give you some perspective, one of my blogs gets 3000 - 4000 hits a day and we only get about 2 comments a day.

Yes Mike my site is the same way. Unless you're inciting a response with explosive content, comments tend to trickle in slowly.

Like Mike said, it's really a numbers game. Add a call to action at the end of post, and write content that sparks passion, beliefs, or curiosities.

Don't worry about comments just yet, you know the blog isn't destitute because you see the traffic. Just keep bumping those traffic numbers up and comments will come.

          Thanks for the motivation!

My traffic has increased substantially recently. According to Wordpress site stats 16 on average per day in february and 46 per day in march.

I'll continue to put my efforts into this before expecting comments.

A bit discouraging but it gives me something to aim for at least. I wasn't aware that the amount of people who take the time to leave comments were this small.

Thank you though it does open my mind a bit more as far as expectations go.
