Best Membership Themes?

Hey, I'm working on a Membership site but can't decide on a Wp theme yet. I would be thankful for all suggestions of free or cheap themes that are responsive also.

Edit: I had a look but it's not what I'm looking for. I simply need suggestions for FREE or cheap WP themes that suit well for a Membership site.

Nor will you. I know a thing or two about this, as I helped a friend build a membership site on Wordpress. When we did design research we found a range of WP membership sites using a range of themes. It simply comes down to personal preference.

There are two I would recommend, though, both of which are by WooThemes. The first is the 'Definition' theme, which has a clean and classy look. It also has just enough customisation options to make your site distinctive, but without overwhelming you. The second is Canvas, which offers total flexibility to mould the site into what you want. This is particularly handy if you find a membership site you'd like to model yours on. A couple of days tinkering around with Canvas's settings and you can usually rustle up a decent replication.

Both of those themes are paid though, so may not be right for you.

Thanks for those tips you two. I also stumbled upon Canvas theme before, I'll think about it. Also your link was very useful HP, thanks.

Anyone else with other theme (not plugin) suggestions?

  We really love Avada theme and we are using it in several websites.
  
  They also have great support that answers quickly and excellent documentation.

  Anyway, from my own personal experience I can say that I've also seen sites with very basic themes (even WordPress's default themes) with hardly any design at all and still the sites were generating massive amount of members.
  
  It basically comes down to the amount of traffic you generate to the site.

I've found OptimizePress to work very well.

Since I use it for every site already, attaching the membership aspect to it is a breeze

  I like the Membersonic Theme created by Andrew Hunter. The theme also comes with the light version of the Membersonic Plugin.
  
  The good news is he has it listed for 37 bucks the bad news is that you missed grabbing it for 18 bucks a few weeks ago.
  
  If however you have money to burn you can go with OptimisePress, Membersonic, Instamember, S2 Member or one of the others that will work with the basic responsive wordpress themes.

There's a really good free responsive theme called....Responsive! Just search for it in your WP theme browser.

OptimizePress is my go-to *paid* theme because it has predefined members area templates and lesson page templates you can simply plug your content into.

Another vote for OptimizePress 2.0.

Yes, it costs money. A one time fee. But then most options you will be looking at WILL charge a fee.

Don't forget, OP 2.0 will also let you easily create your front end sales page, squeeze pages (great to get a visitor to sign up to something free related to your membership if before they leave your site), and also blog pages.

And as said before, it also comes with OptimizeMember, and an easy to use membership options page (e.g gold, silver bronze).

Save up some money, and go for this, or one of the suggested options above.

Why a theme and not a plugin ? You might change the theme later and you have to do a lot of moving work. I am using s2member, it is free and it does everything from paypal payment integration, subscriptions, automatic end of time, membership levels.

I use what theme fits my needs for the membership. One that I like the look, type and layout and of course easy of use and navigation for the user.

I've only once used a membership specific theme, didn't like it and ditched it. Not that I've tried them all
