$500 Dollar Site, Need Advice on Scaling It

I have a small review based site in the fitness niche.The entire site is targeting only the product.

The review was written extremely well and is converting nicely. However, the targeted keyword is not very competitive and therefore the search traffic for that product is extremely low. I am getting about 500 visitors per month.

I feel there is a lot of potential for more sales if I can drive more buyer plausible traffic to my review page.

Due to the fact its a fitness product, and therefore in the fitness niche, all longtail buyer intent keywords would be extremely competitive. ie "how to build muscle, best way to gain muscle, etc:"

I simply want to add a ton of relatable fitness/health related articles to get more traffic to the site.

Problems I see are:

1) Site is ranking well atm for its terms,and I do not feel like doing excessively competitive SEO to rank for new article keyword health terms. It just would not be worth it, and far too much competition.

2) Therefore, only hope for new article traffic would be LSI terms as fitness is too competitive, which could bring the wrong type of customers (information query and not buyers)

Does anyone have any experience scaling a site up from puny to authorative in the fitness/health niche? If this was any other niche it would be an easy choice.

    Target new keywords and do proper SEO.
    Maybe test PPC traffic, but don´t send it directly to your review, instead build a list.

    Replicate what you've already done:

    1) add more content
    2) add more reviews (monetization)
    3) add more traffic

    Can you share an one landing page so that we can get little idea about product....Have you checked how many people are clicking on your affiliate banner? Have you tried changing the product based on your visitors location. For Example: if you are UK traffic then you experiment by putting product that is more popular(check local search using brand term) in UK.

    Make sure your site is using every opportunity to capture an email address so you can follow up and generate more repeat visitors and build trustworthiness and loyalty.

    Build up more content to help rank for additional keywords for the long term. Run some facebook and/or google PPC campaigns and see how well you can get them to convert for the short term.

    Build list form your site in the niche your site is about.
    Do proper on site & off site SEO.
    Expose your site as much as you can in social media.

    I think you probably have to do several things at the same time:

    - Set up some FB ad campaigns, if you do them properly they need not be very expensive.
    - Write some more articles yourself and post them to your site - use very long tail keywords and this should bring you in the long and some shorter.
    - Think about looking for good Solo sellers - to first build your list and then hit the list with your product.

    Some of the above depends on the price of you product - you need to compare the investment with the return on investment.

    Is it 500 dollar site or 500 visitors?

    Start publishing more articles, don't let your concerns hold you back. The longer you wait, the longer it will take for you to succeed.

    All long tail buyer intent keywords might be competitive, but go to google and type in how to build musc and by the time you get to c, you will have several suggestions on some terms you might do well with. Or go to the bottom of the listings for suggestions.

    It may take 3 weeks or more to start seeing some traffic, but several of those pages together will add more traffic.

    And make sure to build a list, if you are not. A lot of people don't buy right away and you can continue to contact them.

    You might also advertise and try a different sales page and do a split test to see which converts better.

      Here are five of my tips that I give to my clients because these tips have a long history of working:

      1. Adding to your existing content will do wonders for your SEO because the search engines will re-index existing content. This is not so much about keyword selection because the search engines have already tagged the content's keywords. The trick is more about "add-on" content to be expounded on, i.e. part 1, part 2, etc.

      2. Do some basic research and determine where the majority of your visitors come from and which posts/pages receive the majority of page views from the same visitors. Cpanel stats is a good place to start. Next, add more content to the posts and pages on an on-going basis. The trick is to carefully select a popular topic that your visitors search for and spend more than two minutes reviewing.

      3. New quality articles based on new topics will add value to the site as a whole in terms of search engine frequency and create/increase repeat visitors. The trick is not so much about keyword selection, but more about new articles on new topics that are written to be expounded on, i.e. part 1, part 2, etc.

      4. Existing products that have a strong sales history are your staple products that monetize the website. However. new articles about new products to emphasis how the new products are used by people to lose weight are very popular with the search engines, creates new visitors, and increases repeat visitors. This also leads to new product reviews. The trick is to create separate sidebars that promote 'only the new products' which focuses the visitor's attention on your monetization methods.

      5. New "authors" that relate to "you" and "write quality articles" will increase the site's popularity in terms of search engine views and visitor views which usually increases the site's Return On Investment. The trick is to select "authors" that will write articles with focus on your products.
