Can you flip blogs with Auto-Content

Hey Warriors!!

A blog flipping question here:

I have a pretty kick-ass system of generation randomised auto content on my WP blogs.

How much do auto-content WP blogs generally sell for.

I would optimise it with adsense and clickbank hoplinkads, but what kinda price am I looking at?

Is the content unique? Are you feeding the blog with PLR, or are you scraping content from other places.

If the content is unique then based on how many targeted visitors you get you can value your visitors at $0.10 each, you'll need some stats to prove it, and sometimes buyers will ask if they can put their own Google Analytics code on your site.

If you have a couple months revenue, you can expect anywhere from 1-7 times it's monthly revenue, and sometimes 10 if its really good.

With scrapped content I wouldn't expect more than figures on the very low $xxx range unless the site is generating substantial traffic and or revenue.

hmm ok thanks. But I could sell it for 7-10x monthly revenue?

Well, it completely depends on the situation. If you're generating good revenue and have a steady traffic flow plus decent history along with maybe a property, you stand a good chance of getting 10x your monthly revenue. Content matters, but it won't ever overtake the importance of revenue, traffic, history.

Right, so if I was to create an autoblog, on, say car care. I adsensed and CB'd it out to the max, and started getting $100 per month

Would the fact that none of the content is mine matter if I sold it on, say, Sitepoint?

It will matter, but not a lot.

There will be some people worrying about copyright, duplicate content and stuff like that and they won't listen to what you've to say. But, there are people who will bite. If you've a quality asset, regardless of a miss, you'll be fine.

I flip autoblogs all the time. Some of mine get great traffic and pagerank and sell very well on Sitepoint. If they have revenue, that's even better. I use Autoblogged and have never had a blogger ask me to stop using their rss feed. I've even had one leave a comment and say "I love this blog". They get backlinks, I get content. If they don't like it and tell me, I'd just remove their rss feed. Just sold a "green" autoblog for $457 with little traffic, no revenue, but it got Pagerank 3 ... $257 for a startup autoblog with not much else but a pretty face and a lot of posts and $1000 for a tattoo autoblog with tons of traffic and some clickbank sales, so that gives you some idea.

When you post an auction on Sitepoint, there's one option which lets you define what type of content you have.

Some people write "Unique - created especially for this site". So, in your case, this would be something that explains that it isn't unique but is scraped while not breaking any copyright.

So, yes, you can sell it on Sitepoint without any problems. Only thing is that traffic alone won't cut it. You need generate revenue (even if its just $50 per month from AdSense) to sell for 3 or 4 figures.

    Regards,

      Mubarak,

On one hand you are saying you scrape content and on the other, in your mind, you know it is a breach of copyright.

Whether it is or isn't shouldn't be the question.

You have asked if your site can be sold and for how much money using scrapped content. The question should be if I am using illegally scrapped content on my site can I sell it without any legal ramifications.

I would seek legal advice - not jailhouse lawyers and ask these questions before trying to sell the site.

that pretty much sums it up. Except to say that two of the main criteria for how much you will get for it depend on WHO you are selling it to, and how unique they think your content is. If you're just scraping and republishing within the terms of the article directories T&Cs, you're probably alright. But then you'll need a dumbed-down audience who think the content is in some way valuable.

Unfortunately, yes it will breach some copyright on some sites. Some autoblog softwares have links back to the original contents which are fine.

I think Blog Overdrive will do that. But not very sure. Remember, no matter whatever method you used, you are still copying contents.

But some people used plugins like Uniquefier to rewrite their contents automatically.

Mubarak, as Desmond said, there will be content that will be copyrighted. Some sites explicitly let you use their content (think Article directories) as long as you preserve the full article and resource box. Beyond that, it is hard to say.

Without revenue, $100 is a handsome guess. To get an idea what kind of sites fetch what kind of revenue, try looking through the current and past auctions on SitePoint under the 'Startup websites for sales' category. That will give you a rough idea as to what to expect

WP-O-Matic may cause you to have copyright issues. That is simply pulling random feeds fomr other Wordpress sites.
Only Instant Affiliate Feeds can gaurantee you the right to scrape content. All of the content provided by that plug-in has been copyright approved.

If you want to make good money flipping websites then creating unique content is a must. I'd be very surprised to find anyone willing to shell out big dollars for a site that could get Google-slapped at any minute, regardless of how much traffic or revenue it might make.

what I tend to do is any of my autoblogs that for some reason are having a hard time getting traffic, I flip. The more pages they have, the more they fetch (other things being equal)
