Hey Warriors

So I just finished writing my first ebook and already got some bonuses to go with it and I am also taking care of the copywriting and mini site design. Anyway I will eventually move to keyword research which I guess it is one of the most important (if not THE most important) step in putting a new website up.

What I was thinking is how you actually USE those keywords. Let's say that I choose a keyword, for example, "keyword research". Now what? What do I do with that? How can I have my website in the search results for that particular keyword (not asking about how to get in the first page of google)? And can I use more than one keyword for my website?

I would really like to learn a little more about keywords and how can i (and should I) use them.

Bear in mind that I know nothing about building websites, I will be outsourcing this job. And SEO for that matter. Nevertheless I would like to know how this "works"!

All the Best
James

    James,

In my opinion - you may have just put the cart before the horse. In the brainstorming phase - you usually want to define your target audience and find out which keywords your target audience uses to find your product.

For now, just google "keyword tool" and the #1 listing should be google's keyword tool. Place your keywords in there to see how many people search that term each month. This will also show you how many competitors you have battling for these keywords.

The problem with what you did is that you spent a lot of time already writing a book that you don't know how to get to your audience. And if you can't find popular keywords to get this info to them - you could possibly be in a world of hurtin'. I really hope not though.

Another thing that you may want to check into to get certain keywords are backlinks. "Angela's backlinks" are VERY GOOD (google it). This allows your website to rise to the top of search engines everywhere because big time websites are "linking back" to it.

A final way to exercise your keywords for your target market is through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising or ezine articles.

    I hope this helps -

      Hey Jon,

I was just giving an example I didn't actually write an ebook about keyword research Anyway I just didn't want to reveal my niche that is all! Anyway I got a list of keywords already and they are good to go, some have high search volume and low competition so I hope it works. I was just wondering how you can relate those keywords to your website. Do they have to be in your domain name? Or maybe in some part of the website? How do you do that?

About Angela's backlinks thanks for the suggestion, I am a subscriber to her packages since April and will definetely start using her backlinks to build links to my website. As for PPC I won't use it for now as I am short on budget. Maybe after I make a few bucks I can reinvest it but for now I will stick with free or almost free methods (angela's packages are only $5 a month so for me that is almost free )

      Thanks
      James

One very effective thing to do with those keywords is to use them as anchor text for backlinks. This gets you some SEO juice regardless of your site's density for those particular keywords.
