Better conversion rates? Free or Paid Traffic?

Hi,

I am doing some research now regarding conversion rates. It's pretty hard to look for resources and statistics showing conversion rates of Free and Paid traffic.

Please give me your thoughts about this or share some useful links or sources where I can see study their conversion rates.

Thank you.

It depends on the quality of the traffic source itself. If you can get top quality paid traffic it will usually convert at a much higher rate than free. That's my experience.

Paid traffic is much better than free traffic but of course it takes a lot of tweeking to get the right ROI

paid traffic converts more. but not sure if your researching the right things. if your doing a paid vs free traffic comparison, Paid traffic always wins since all it cost is money while free traffic cost time.

      Good point mate!

I am doing some comparative study for the both of them. Advantage and disadvantage of the two, etc. As far as I have researched, some veteran IMs are using paid traffic because it gives them more conversion while new IMs usually start with free traffic to build their online presence or image.

I think it will depend on your goal and Online status. If you are already an established IM with established online brand, you can do paid traffic to boost your conversions more, but if you are just starting especially if you have very limited budget, you tend to do things which are free.

It doesn't matter whether you are getting paid traffic or free traffic. Both are almost same. I am seeing that some members are saying that paid traffic is better. But you should always look at the quality of your traffic. Remember you can also get quality targeted traffic from FREE sources. If you target Google traffic and do some SEO optimizations with proper keyword research, you can get really good results in terms of getting quality traffic for FREE.

lol, is that a trick question?

You know on certain days I can run a damm close to a 100% conversion rate with facebook ads. Iv seen days at least 80, 90% conversion on my ads. Not most but I have experienced it.
    Of course that is paid

I suppose I have had some very close days as well in my analytics account

Thinking about it, it depends on a number of factors...

I personally like paid traffic, because I can get thousands of visitors fast.

I'm also really good at turning paid traffic into profit, I don't like doing all the stuff and all the time that foes into free traffic. That's just a personal preference

Depends where your free traffic is coming from. I've always done better with free traffic, but you have to be on Google page 1 search results.

Free traffic for me. Better conversion rates. Especially back when EZA was hot. Free marketing still brings me the best buyers though.

Paid, without question, if you are doing it right. With paid traffic you can usually narrow your audience down to the tightest demographics that you know will convert. Free traffic is much more randomised.

This isn't a fair question because it's too general in nature. There are also many, many variables.

Free traffic comes from all kinds of places.

The same thing with paid traffic.

It's not a realistic question. It will depend on where your traffic is specifically coming from. It will depend on your offer. If appropos, it will depend on your sales copy or pre-sale copy. It might depend on your content, how you have your sales funnel set up, etc.

Anyone who says "free traffic" is better than paid traffic or vice versa isn't a real marketer in my book because a real marketer would know it's not a fair or realistic question.

How many people in this thread have actually measured their ROI when comparing a free traffic source to traffic they've (paid) invested in? Do you factor in time invested as well as opportunity cost? How much time do you put in traffic you don't paid for? Are you able to scale it up to have a real apples to apples comparison to any specific traffic source? What's your REAL cost per click? What's your real cost per subscriber and customer?
