What do you normally use for sending affiliates payment? Instant or delayed? Any problems with either?

I guess delayed is good for vendors b/c of possible refund issues but on the affiliate side, instant is great.

Instant of course for folks I know.

Delayed for folks I do not.

Affiliates like getting paid and I like them promoting.

Delayed for affiliate that you don't know and instant for those you know well. This will protect you from scam since I read some forum posts that those scammer will sign up with your instant commission affiliate, then use bulk hacked paypal a/c to place the orders for your product and get the instant commission, then disappear after receiving the commission. So at the end, you have to bear the dispute cost once the original paypal owners lodge the dispute complaint to Paypal.

Delayed commissions is a serious thing.
It means: "I DO NOT TRUST YOU". You have to be careful to whom you say that.

If I do not know the person I get in communication.

If there is no response: denied.

Then if the response is fishy I also deny the application.

If you put somebody on delayed it is usually equal to slapping them in the face.

The only people who accept denied payments are usually aware that their traffic
    is worth almost nothing anyhow.

People that have an email list and can deliver real traffic will not
    agree to denied payments.

I generally agree with Hans, but the fact is that it's way too easy to get ripped off, especially if you are paying a big commission (75% or more). I approve most people for delayed, then encourage them to reach out on FB to see if they are real.

    * Do we have common friends?
    * Are they a successful seller with over 50 transactions?
    * Will they give me their real phone number so I can verify they exist?
    * When I google them (and their email), does anything look off?

Set the expectation in your affiliate page, and let them know you will change their status to instant after a certain number of sales (we like to see at least 10). And before you do, look at those sales. Are they all hotmail and yahoo addresses? Are the IPs fishy (non US, proxys, etc.)? Are they all within an hour or two?

Fake orders are not that hard to spot, do your due diligence and not only will you protect yourself from fraud, but you may also develop some good affiliate relationships.

By default you should set all your affiliates (especially new ones) to delayed. Only set them to instant if they are super affiliates, or you already know them

DON'T DO INSTANT PAYMENTS !!!! Unless you know the person or he has been a reseller for a while and nothing's wrong with him.

I'm dead serious about this and i know what i'm talking about 2 cents.

We play on both sides of the fence - seller and affiliate - and by far the biggest problem for us has not been with the affiliates but with the sellers who set delayed payments and then don't pay on time and who don't respond to messages.

    Ripped off by affiliates: 1
    Ripped off by sellers: 8

(and that's not counting the number of sellers who eventually paid us but we had to contact 1, 2, sometimes 3 times before they did.)

If you use JVZoo to sell your products they are adamant you do not offer any new affiliates instant commissions
