Amazon Review Site Question

Hello Warrior,

About 9 months ago, I had a warrior build a review site for me which included 5 x 500 word reviews. The site was delivered on time but it was really, really ugly and the reviews had spelling and grammatical errors. I haven't done anything with the site for 9 months but noticed some sales starting to trickle in on a daily basis. I'm thinking of clean up the site and adding some more/better reviews. My questions are:

1. The current wordpress theme is horrible. Could changing the current wordpress theme to a newer theme reverse any SERP gains I have received in the last 9 months?

2. Should I clean up the spelling and grammatical errors or just write new reviews on new products which would push the older reviews to the bottom of "Recent Posts" list?

3. Lastly, the reviews are for winter products. The search traffic dies off in March and picks up again in July. Should I wait until July to write more reviews?

    To answer your questions quick:
    1. No
    2. Clean up the grammatical errors in the old posts and try to upload a new one at least every 1-2 weeks! Google likes fresh content on any site!
    3. I'd start right away and maybe post even more often during the season.
    Good luck

Art pretty much nailed it. As for creating new reviews for seasonal products, think like a retail store. They tend to start 'changing product over' a solid 2 months before that season actually hits. This is pre-selling at its finest, and for a large review site you should follow the same plan.

In addition, start building a list.
Doesn't have to be a fancy autoresponder sequence but you can use it to inform your prospects about new offers (reviews), niche specific news. Just let them know that you are there. They already know your site and might come back to someone they trusted (by giving away their best email address).

  • I think Art is spot on with his advice. Especially with adding more reviews during the summer months. Look for new products that are goign to be hitting the digital shelves next winter and you'll have an advantage over people who wait until the winter to write them.

You can preface the reviews with something like, "This product won't be out until October, 2014 but here are my initial thoughts..."

Then you should be ranking for the keywords for those new products by the time people are actually searching for them.

I agree with Art as well.

Anytime I go to a site and see lots of misspellings, then I believe the site is there to just take my money. So I move on.

Adding valued content is a great way to build trust.

Amy, I am recently working with a client who is exactly facing the same issue related to Amazon reviews.

Had been keeping watch on the keyword positions for this particular niche site for the past 2 months and I observed significant boost.

PM me if you have any questions regarding the reviews or setting up an autoresponder.
