Switched Aweber list to single opt-in but still requires confirmaiton

Hey guys, I was losing most of my subscribers because they never confirmed their subscription to my newsletter, so I changed my list settings to single opt-in.

Then I saw that my Adwords account stats showed that I was getting conversions, but I was still not getting any more subscribers, or even any "confirmation pending" subscribers. It was like they were opting-in, getting sent to my OTO page and Aweber was just ignoring them . . .

So I tried to opt-in to my own list with two different emails from other sites that I own, was sent both times to the OTO page, but was not shown in Aweber as new subscribers. I looked in my Aweber stats for "added today" and saw that both emails were still listed as "confirmation pending", even though I had changed the settings to single opt-in . . .

WTF?!?!?!?!?

WTF is the point of paying Aweber if you have to double opt-in, even though you changed the settings to single opt-in?

Or, I heard that you cannot change your settings after you have one subscriber or more, so should I just create a new list (which means of course, I will have to re-upload all of my follow-up emails, list settings, etc. . . .

So, my question is, is it at all possible to use single opt-in with Aweber, even if I create a new list?

Were you using the same IP?

aWeber did that to me as well long ago. I was told that too many access times with the single IP kicked in double optin (but only for me).

Perhaps ask others if they see the same thing?

Yeah, once you set it up as double optin and get a sub, you cannot change to SINGLE optin. You need to make a new list.

Sucks - lesson learned. Next time, start with single opt in.

@Barbling -- Yeah, I think you're right about that, I was using the same ISP

@XponentSYS -- I am making a new list right now, but another question: I have also heard that Aweber will ALWAYS CONFIRM OPT-INS from other web forms. Does that mean that subscribers will always have to confirm if I use an optimize press opt-in box? I like my OP squeeze page and personally think that the Aweber boxes look like $h@t . . .
