Solution Found -- Aweber + Optimize Press + Single Opt-In

Hey guys, since I think I am not the only one who had / is having these problems, here is the solution:

1. You CAN use single opt-in with Aweber, here are the three steps you need to take -- https://help.aweber.com/entries/2166...firmed-Opt-In-

2. Yes, you can change an old list from double opt-in to single opt-in, you don't need to start a new list, but IF YOU USE OPTIMIZE PRESS or another similar plugin, you CANNOT DIRECTLY LINK your Aweber list into the provided opt-in box, you need to import the HTML info from the Aweber opt-in box.

If you just tie in your Aweber list to the Optimize Press opt-in box, your subscribers will ALWAYS HAVE TO OPT-IN, REGARDLESS OF YOUR LIST SETTINGS. Here is how to get around this with Aweber and Optimize Press:

I was losing a lot of subscribers due to the opt-in confirmation and it took a while to find a solution, but now that I figured this out, I am "less annoyed" with Aweber . . .

Thanks for the tips. I haven't personally had that issue but this thread will come in handy if it pops up. Thanks again.

Can I ask why you would prefer to have a single opt-in list?

No problem guys, I learned a lot from Warrior Forum and wanted to get the Aweber single opt-in questions answered once and for all

@stevenco -- I was getting a lot of people subscribing to my lists in both of my niches, but most of them weren't confirming. As a matter of fact, the guy running my Adwords campaign wanted to check out my email funnel and even he didn't get through the confirmation and sent me an email, asking why he didn't get put in the funnel.

I read a lot of threads about the single -vs- confirmed opt-in issue on this forum and decided to go with the single variation, largely because the pro-confirmed opt-in arguments were very weak in my opinion.

To be honest, my final decision came after I opted-in to Eben Pagan's list, just to see what he did. If single opt-in is good enough for David D, its good enough for me, too

I just recently started using single opt-in lists. One thing to note is to abide strictly to the terms of service for the service you're using.

For example, don't finish your email and then have a crap load of spaces which hides the unsubscribe link. In other words don't force your subscriber to scroll through a page or two of blank space to find the unsub link.

I also have a text notice at the top of each email informing subscribers that they are getting my email because they chose to and that they can unsubscribe at any time at the bottom of my emails.

My current landing page is converting at 25% and I haven't had a single unsubscribe, "yet". = )

    Yes,

When you use the double opt in option in Aweber or any other auto-responder system out there, your confirmed opt in numbers will go down.

I heard that many of the internet marketing experts out there don't use double opt in, so you don't have to either.

I have never had any problems switching back and forth between single and double opt-in on any lists with Aweber, regardless of their age. I have heard that others have, however. Also, I have had it switch to double opt-in on me one day when I was testing forms and I opted-in too many times with my own email address. But that was only for me because I opted-in too many times with the same IP and email address within a 24 hour period.

I do know that when you do not use their web form or if you use their API, you have to use double opt-in. For instance, JVZoo has an option when you set up a product there to integrate your autoresponder so that when one of your products sell, whether through you or an affiliate, it will automatically add the buyer to your list.

This is an awesome feature and an easy way to build a nice buyer's list, especially if you have lots of sales coming from affiliates. They are basically building a buyer's list for you!

However, if you use Aweber when you make a sale it will only send out the confirmation email to a buyer. If they choose not to confirm then they obviously do not get added to your list. It's the same thing if you use Get Response, BUT, I have a buddy who put in a help ticket with Get Response asking if he could switch that to single opt-in so that 100% of buyers would be added to his list, and he has told me that they agreed.

I am not sure if you could do the same thing with Aweber. I'm kind of jealous now because he has a few good affiliates promoting his products and now every time one of his products is sold he automatically gets the buyer added to his list.

I have noticed that less than 50% of the people who buy my products will confirm, so it makes sense to have single opt-in in this instance. Having double opt-in when it comes to this method is losing me a lot of potential good leads on my buyer's list. I am thinking of ways to overcome this and I have figured out a good method (other than switching to Get Response, of course). I am going to offer a really nice bonus to all of the people who purchase one of my products in hopes that it will get a higher percentage of people to open the email and confirm after they buy.

If anyone else has any other ideas that might help raise my confirmation rate, I'd surely appreciate your input.

I know this is an old thread, but I was looking for a work around for single optin with AWeber optin. In my case, I was using the API with my merchant account purchase form for people purchasing a product they are offered after subscribing to my main list.

I ended up sending an email to AWeber and asked if these people would have to confirm their subscription even though they are already on another list. Their response was that they can turn off the double optin requirement for the API for that particular list. All I have to do is contact them when I am ready.

Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
