First 100 Subscribers. Now What?

Hello everyone!

It's been exactly one month since I've signed up with aweber. I signed up on February 23rd and since then I've been getting on average 3-4 sign ups a day to my email list.

I am happy at the fact that my conversions are consistent. What I'm a bit dissapointed at is the fact that I still haven't made any affiliate sales off of my market. (Primarily Musicians)

With 100 people on the list I would've expected at least one.

What do you guys suggest I try out next?

I suggest that you actually get at least 10+ leads per day. Those 3-4 people per day is not going to get you anywhere.

Also, you don't have to build a list to make affiliate sales. Just send a consistent flow of new interested prospects to your own affiliate link.

    Danny,

Instead of asking us what you should do, ask them what they want.

    Then give it to them.

This, right here is the key to succeed in email marketing.

Exactly. Send a broadcast simply asking what topics they'd like to learn more about. Maybe present a list of options. Take the feedback, look at the most popular answers, then source products that provide the solution. And that's what you promote to them next. People will be more inclined to take action when they feel you're specifically answering their questions.

I once thought the same thing when I first started building a list.

Sometimes all it takes is 10, 50, 100, 500, or even 1000 subs.

It's impossible to say when the first sale will come in...

There are way too many variables to determine that.

I recommend you start getting more subs per day, and work on what you say to your subs.

Get personal with them, and don't be afraid to put your affiliate offer in your emails

Find out what their problems are and I mean their painful problems where they really need a solution for. Survey them for example. Or have a look in forums in your niche, see about what problems people talk in there. Provide solutions and your subs will start to listen to you and buy.

How are you getting the signups? HOW you're getting them and the frame of mind people are in when they sign up is important.

Then, what kind of follow-up content are they getting? Does it help to reinforce the offer?

Let me see if I can help you out with at least the second two questions.

    1) someone signs up and they get something that is 99% pure content and LEADS TO what ever the product is about and then gives a link. Use this formula: "This is what I have, this is what it will do for you, click the link to get it."

    2) Spend the next 5 straight days giving nothing but content ... no sales messages of any kind. But make the content related to the product. Use phrases like "there's more to this but we'll be getting to that later."

    3) On the 6th and 7th day go into all of the "I said there's more to this ... ad more to that ... and more of this other thing ... here is where you learn about those things, click this link to check it out."

THAT should help to generate sales because you've built up some trust.

I personally am not much of a fan of just blindly using the "proven email sequences" put out by 99% of affiliate programs because it's nothing but a string of "buy this, buy this, buy this" with no real reason why they should buy it, or buy it from you, or anything like that.

    Hope this helps.

When you are in the early stages you definitely need to cultivate feedback from your list, so you can get to know them, their challenges, and problems, and how you can help them (with products or services, either affiliate or your own). And keep adding great value for free, it will pay you back in the long run.

Just a number 100 doesn't guarantee you will make a sale. Why you think that?

It is not a number that is important but how targeted your list is and what you offer to subscribers. Also, how you offer them...
