Don't just think about list building. Think about inbound marketing as a whole. You have to converts visitors into leads/subscribers and then leads into customers.

Yes of course. To market online successfully you need a list.

It's a way of getting repeat visitors, building your brand, making repeat sales to previous customers (someone who's bought before is much more likely to do so again), keeping touch with your fans and much more.

Pronote to your lead list alot. Its a numbers game.
Relationship building is for your buyers list.
Hmmm that's one way to look at it but I don't like that approach at all. Seems short lived to me.

If you're constantly promoting to them they will tire of it quickly and stop reading / unsubscribe.

If you market in an intelligent manner you can keep them as long time customers and fans.

It needn't be a 'numbers game'. Small, targeted, well treated lists can continue to make money and outperform larger lists.

Don't promote every single day to your list. maybe promote like I do, such as up to 3 times a week interspersed with a day off between days that I do promote.

This is one of many subscriber expectations that should be mentioned on your opt-in page. Personally, I send out emails on a daily basis to all of my lists primarily because these are in extremely competitive niches.

This post may be helpful, as also a few gems from experience in the rest of the thread:

If it's relevant content (i.e. not spam) you should try and mail everyday. This depends on the niche though.

But in most cases you want to keep yourself in the minds of your subscribers.

building a freebie seeker list got me out of my job.

Building a list of BUYERS and PROVEN buyers, made sure I will never have to work a day or a chitty 9 to 5'er ever again.

There is a difference. LEADS, and then converting those leads to buyers. If you occupy your day doing this, the rest will be history.

There's plenty of ways to go about doing that, but there is an easier way to do it...

Which is having a list strictly of buyers (which is a helluva lot more profitable!)

As always, I recommend doing both

Building a list is about building a relationship whether they are buyers or not. Keeping all your emails relevant is the key. Being available and interactive too. I make the bulk of my sales through my list.

List building works be it in an online or offline business. Lots of ways to make money. You just need to focus in on a 2 or 3 of them (at most).

But most importantly, just be persistent & consistent everyday working at it.

I see some of you focus on building a list of buyers instead of "freebie" seekers.

What are you selling on the front end, is it something like a $7 report or something or is it higher priced?

In my experience, building lists of "freebie" seekers is largely just a waste of time. For all of my niches, only active buyers resulting from a promotion may subscribe.

The opt-in form includes a forced transaction number field, usually obtained from their Amazon purchase, but also may be from a Clickbank receipt depending on the niche.

Admittedly this process may eliminate an indeterminable number of "potential" buyers, but actually has worked extremely well over the years for quickly screening and qualifying prospects for subsequent high end purchases.

Haven't made dime one from "list building"...

On the other hand, I won't tell you how much I've made over the years communicating with the people who join my lists for two reasons. First, it's really none of your business. Second, you wouldn't believe me if I told you, and some of you would get mad when I fell back on reason one when you demanded proof...

At it's essence, "list building" is simply obtaining permission to continue the conversation that led them to you in the first place. What you do with that first tenuous permission will tell the tale of whether you make money or not, and whether it's short term or sustained.

Yes, I make my living from list building. However, you need to make sure that you are providing value to your list.

    How can you do that?

Differentiate yourself from what everyone else is doing. Most people simply send offer after offer to their list. What should you send? Value.

What's my way? I send my list daily interviews with successful online entrepreneurs. I didn't make my fortune overnight, but last month I made about $7,500 in profit from my list and show.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have. From my experience listbuilding is still the easiest way to make money online. It's all about listbuilding and building a relationship with your subscribers. What are the chances that a stranger is going to hit your site for the first time and make a purchase through one of your affiliate links? Not very good. Another myth is that size matters. Nope. I know people that have lists in the 10's of thousands and they couldn't make a decent income online if their life depended on it.

There's tons of money in list building, every person in a list should be seen as a dollar sign!
However, the mistake most people make is treat them like dollar signs..
If you treat your list like people and develop relationships, they will trust you and that trust turns into paydays for you!
Remember, build relationships and earn their trust and you'll stand out..
Most people just shove products down their lists throats and literally spam their subs to death..
This may make you a "some" money but it won't last long..

    Cheers!

Yes, list building works... and it consumes over 50% of my business. I've been doing it since 2005, when I first hopped online and it's been a huge focus for us ever since... WHY? Because it works.

Not just for online businesses, but even more so for offline businesses... you can literally explode an offline business by utilizing list building and email marketing.

It all comes down to having a lead generation page and driving your traffic, visitors and even foot traffic, in the case of offline businesses to that page... then the real work begins... emailing them.

You see, email marketing is nothing more than follow-up and if you do it correctly, a relationship builder... those 2 things:

    - Follow Up

    &

    - Relationship building

Are 2 things that can result in millions of dollars... I don't mean to be "hypey" by saying that... just telling it like it is.

    Hi,

Your main focus needs to be...

    1) finding out what your lists want.

    2) Providing them with what they need and then charge them for it.

    That's it.

    Anything else is just fluff.

If you focused on doing just this for the next few weeks you'll know exactly
what people want and be able to send emails out to those subscribers knowing
exactly what kind of offers/training you need to send to them to get the best
    possible results from your emails.
