What is a funnel system?

Hello fellow WF members,
I'm new to the site and IM. I've been researching on different topics and lots of topics I'm wondering how they work.
1. What is a funnel system and how does it work?

2. I've heard of squeeze pages and am wondering how I go about putting one online? ie... I need a domain, hosting, a main page? is the squeeze page a link to build an email list? do you give something away usually with a squeeze page?

3. What is the landing page? same as squeeze page?

I do have other questions but i'll just start with this for now. I hope I posted this in the correct section also. hope all is well with everybody.

    My answer, FWIW...

    1. A (sales) funnel is a series of follow-up offers you make to a buyer, typically after they have accepted your initial offer. Funnels often contain both upsells and (if these are declined) downsells. The aim is to maximize your earning potential from that customer.

    2. A squeeze page is basically just a one-page website. Squeeze pages are designed to achieve one key aim, e.g. to capture a prospect's email address. And yes, one popular technique is to give something away (a bribe, in other words!) in order to persuade them to give you their details.

A squeeze page requires a domain and hosting, just like any other website.

    3. A landing page is, literally, where your prospects land, perhaps following a link from a paid advert. Many landing pages are also squeeze pages, and the terms are often used interchangeably. Strictly speaking a landing page doesn't have to be a squeeze page, though.

    Hope that helps!

      Nick described it well!

I view a funnel system as:

      Product Creation:
Step 1.) Someone buys your front end product.

Step 2.) They are then offered your upsell.

Step 3.) If they don't buy that, perhaps they're offered your downsell.

      That's a simple product funnel.

      And then there's your

      List Funnel:

Step 1.) Someone opts into your list.

Step 2.) You send them the first followup message.

Step 3.) You then send a series of followup messages that build towards a common goal - buy this product, sign up for that affiliate product, etc.etc.etc.

Funnels can include upsells and downsells and crosssells and value content and .....

      Hope that helps!

    Hey Jason,

    Welcome!

You're probably not getting a lot of responses here because your three questions would require an ebook to answer.

You should do your own basic research firs then ask specific questions as they arise.

    Anyway...

    1. Here's a good definition of a sales funnel:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_funnel

    2. Too many possible answers. You can put it on your own site. There are services that will host your squeeze pages (your autoresponder can probably host it for you).

Yes, normally you give a bribe away to get an optin.

    3. They can be the same.

1] A funnel is a series of sales pages which lead the customer through progressive levels of information. Initially they are introduced to the concept of the product/service and hopefully enticed to submit their contact information, then subsequent pages they visit during this enticement process may introduce them to yet more products or services or a deeper involvement in the original product they are intending to purchase. In other words they are up ( or cross ) sold. Meaning they additionally buy a more expensive or advanced version of the product, or a secondary product.

2] A squeeze page is a page for selling a product or service. Which hopefully captures the contact information of the page visitor. So, yes to your question, a squeeze page will contain an opt in form which legally captures the name and email address of the client. That contact information is then stored in a auto-responder data base. You subscribe to an auto-responder service. You then have access to that database of contacts. That enables you to legally contact those persons at will. They also have the option of removing themselves from that list at any time.

3] A landing page is the page a person sees when they select any website ( often referred to as a URL, which is engineer speak for domain name/website/IP destination ).
If you type in http://yahoo.com and whatever you get from the Yahoo server on your machine is the landing page. A squeeze page page can be a landing page if it is what comes up first under the domain name.
A landing page will always be named index.html or index.php or index something on the server side. A internet users browser looks for the index file on the server where that particular domain is parked and requests a copy of that file be sent to the users computer. Each time you click a hyperlink , you are requesting a copy of the website files from a internet connected server. The server sends a copy and your home computer assembles the files and you get to see a copy.

    Hey Jason,

Everyone's done a great job at giving answers, but for a newbie I always recommend creating your first squeeze page without hosting (and sometimes even without a domain!). This can be done for free with InstaPage.com so you can start building your list by literally spending $0.

Another option is that you can also have Aweber or GetResponse host your opt-in form for you. These can easily be designed to mimic a typical landing page.

      Good luck.

      Cheers,

A sales funnel is the process (steps) to deliver, qualify, and convert a visitor.

    I grouped 2 & 3 for a reason. To make it simpler.

A landing page is were you want your potential customers to arrive. This is the actual top part of your sales funnel (delivery).

Landing pages can be divided in different categories witch is the next step on your funnel (qualifying the traffic):
    1. Click Trough - Simple page with a message and links to an offer.
    2. Lead Capture (squeeze page) - Simple page with a form, goal is to capture and move the person on the funnel to the next step.
    3. Infomercial page - those long pages with a bunch of buy now links.
    4. Social Networks- This pages are just to generate likes, follows and any other type of social engagement to enter the visitors into the sales funnel.
    5. Micro sites - a topic of its own
    6. Product page - retailers really use this format as it revolves around details of the product.

To really work on landing pages, you should use your own hosting and domains, so you can do A/B tests, and optimize (note, not optimize for search engines) for the sales if you are serious.

The front end of the funnel may also be something you giveaway or sell at a reduced price. Either way, your prospect is now in the funnel and you can start building a relationship leading to sales of higher priced items.

First at all I would have a look here at the WF to find the answers yourself. You'll learn a lot more while doing that. Youtube can be also a great source of knowledge to get all your question answered.

Quick tip from me, don't try to learn all things with ones.

Start with one thing. I mean you don't need to know how to built a proper sales funnel yet if you don't know what a squeeze page does. Take one step after another otherwise you'll get easily overwhelmed with all the new information.

    Hi Jason,

    Let's break this down...

The importance of having a structured sales funnel in place is to take people through a series of a steps. You can do this in numerous way's such as bootcamp training, where you could help them understand what it takes to run a business, or how to become good a copywriting, how to build a list etc... as they get value, you start to build authority and in time leadership.

A funnel system would go something like...

    - Get traffic
    - That traffic is sent to your squeeze page
    - X amount opt-in to your squeeze page and are sent to an OTO or Thank you page.
    - Then you follow up with them in numerous ways delivering more valuable content, and as you're helping them, the key is to break even or get back into profit from the the money you spent on getting that traffic.

You'll always want to break even or be in profit, but you have to literally take the time and effort to help your subscribers, and that's why structuring a sales funnel is important.

You will need a domain, hosting and then something to get people to opt-in to your funnel. If you're not so sure about the technical side of things, you may want to consider investing in OptimizePress which will allow you to setup a blog and many other things.

If your priority is just setting up a squeeze page, then you could consider LeadPages as it's very user friendly and suitable for beginners.

You give something free now to get their email address, and then sell them something expensive later.
