I have gotten a few books on internet marketing and I don't know if it is information overload but it just seems so damn complex.Does anyone know of a site that simplifies things or breaks things down more?

Well, you need to get in there and try something. You don't need to spend a lot of money. You just need to learn by doing. If you accompany your reading actual trial and error, you will learn faster.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

The problem is that there is so much you could do. The possibilities are endless.

If you are new to internet marketing you need to find something you can do and focus on it.

You probably have all the information you need in the products you have already purchased. Pick one idea that attracts you and "murder the alternatives"

Reading books on IM and trying to pick it all up is like doing a degree on your own at home. It takes a long time to learn it all because it is complex. I think the beat way of learning is to get in and start doing it and find answers to problems as you go along.

Otherwise do some courses on the way to get traffic, write articles, and do other things and this forum will help you in that regard as many do such learning courses. Don't buy any more books until you know what you are doing.

Have you fot a plan or an idea about what you want to do because that is where you have to start. Write it down and make a list of everything you know and understand and what yoou think you would be good at marketing.

That's my advice and many will add to it.

    God bless

It is really easy to feel overwhelmed - there is so much information out there. I think most people feel like that when they get started with internet marketing, especially if they subscribe to lots of offers, newsletters etc.

It does get easier, but it helps if you can find something to focus on.

Is there a particular area that you are really interested in?

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

KenJ and DV are both right.

Forget about getting more info now. Just pick something and DO IT.

I think Jennifer does a great job of simplifying things over at potpiegirl.com

    That's where I'd start.

    Much success,

    Rob

As stated above learn by doing is the key. Let what you have read so far give you a start. Implement something. Spend time just doing and learning that.

An example would be, get a cheap cpanel hosting account and start building websites, setting up auto responders, blogs, forums etc. No amount of how to books can replace just doing it.

I like to think of IM as learning a foreign language by immersion. You really just need to keep exposing yourself to it and things will start to click.

First thing you need to do is pick an area of IM and run with it. For instance, article marketing. If that interests you then just do it. You'll learn by trial and error. Don't try to do everything at once, just focus on article marketing (if that's your choice) and then move on once you have a firm grasp on that. Failure is your friend because it's going to teach you a lot more than books will about IM.

Once you pick your area to focus on, search the forum for more info and if you have a specific question that you can't find an answer for, ask! You'll benefit from the answer and the person answering will benefit because teaching others is one of the key steps in cementing knowledge in your brain. This is really a win-win community.

My suggestion is to just get out and do it. If you make a complete mess of it post about it and we'll help you figure out where you could improve. That's a lot better than waiting until you have a perfect knowledge of IM, because that day will never come.

Good luck! You know that your fellow warriors are cheering for you!
