What's your favorite font for e-book and article titles? Favorite font for the body text of e-books/articles? Right now I am using Impact for titles and Georgia for the body text. Thanks for your help. Z |

Georgia is a web text mostly. I would stick with Arial or Times New Roman depending on the subject matter of the book. |

I use Tahoma for all title and Arial for the body text. Times New Roman also works sometimes, but I don't think its as attractive. - Leon Klepfish |

The experts say that the traditional serif fonts work better on paper, while on screen it is better to use sans-serif fonts. (Georgia has been created for screen to replace the really ugly Times New Roman) |

I would phrase the question a little differently and ask "what is the favorite font of your target market?" Not surprisingly, I have found that different markets seem to prefer different fonts. I market primarily to business owners and I have found that Trebuchet works well, as it is very professional and straight forward. I don't think I would use something as trendy as Impact with my market, but I'm guessing it could work well for younger customers. Of course, the only way to know for sure is test, test, test! |

Wow, this has really been eye opening for me. I'm going to reevaluate what I'm doing. I hadn't thought of font as a reflection of market. My market is 40 and up, have there been test for fonts and that age group. Thanks, Z |

I don't know about tests for this specific market (40+) but being a member of it let me give you the common sense advice based on my experience: NO tiny little font size! We don't like if you remind us about our aging eyes ![]() Either use bigger fonts than usual or have a button for increasing/decreasing the font size. |

I use Bookman Old Style at size 13 in my e-books, and Tahoma for headings. On my salespages, it's Georgia for body text and Tahoma for headings, but I'm using Impact on my next one. Would like to use Cargo Crate for a special related effect, but not many computers will have the font loaded. |

Thanks Kevin, I actually have one of your e-books. I think I'll move from 12 to 13. Is there a reason you use old style for your books? Why are you moving to Impact? Are you planing to use impact for the e-book title. I think what I'm looking for is to create a style that is consistent with my e-books. I find that I have to be careful in my desire to be different and have my books stand out but not to much so they either look weird or hard to read. Thanks for the information. Z |

Times New Roman is excellent for many genre of books as are serif fonts generally. Sans are too modern looking for many subjects. I use Arial or TNR depending whether it is a modern or traditional type subject. 10 to 12 size. |

Do you try and keep consistent between your books with fonts.

I find that I don't really care much for TNR, but I have to keep in mind that it's really not what I like but what the customer prefers. Thanks for all the info, this is really helpful to me and I hope others. Z |

The question was for writing books and articles in which case Arial would usually be the best font and also TNR for some subjects. | |

So I have a question. Wouldn't the web fonts like Verdana, Georia and Tahoma be the best for an e-book. I would think that many people read e-book over their computer as well as printing them out. Thanks, Z |

No because an eBook is usually written in Word and then converted to PDF. Arial and TNR are optimised for Word, PDF etc whereas Georgia, Tahoma are web optimised fonts for browsers. |

I think Arial is easiest to read for ebooks.

Thanks apc, that is useful information for me anyway. I've often wondered about the difference. |

Tahoma is for me. I think the font looks professional and just perfect for most of my sales page. |

I' played around with fonts for a couple of hours last night and it looks like for ebooks Verdana 14 pt. for text body and Tahoma for subheadings, Lucida Calligraphy for headings and Impact for the main title. I'm thinking to use the same for articles. My reasoning is since these fonts were designed for reading on screen and every person who first sees either the eBook or articles will be seeing it on screen it seems to make sense that a screen friendly font is the way to go. Open to any thoughts on this. Thanks, Z |
