Advice Please - I'm About To Start Working With Google/Android

I own an events company, and I was approached to throw a launch event for the premium version of the Android TV Box. I was obviously very happy about it, but the one clause is that I need to be able to pre-sell units before the event (weird, I know).

I would have no problem with this, but I have no idea where to start selling tech-related things to.

Assuming I can sell these units B2B, no problem. If I'm selling B2C, maybe not a problem. But, I don't have a budget for any ad spend right now and I'm not up to date on current SEO tactics.

So... cold calls? Ask friends/family to buy? Get affiliates/sales team? Landing page where I send traffic to using promotional partners? Setup an event page, and buying one also gets you a ticket?

Probably the latter is the most reasonable.

So basically my question is: where should I go to sell these god damn things first? (Specific websites or resources would be tremendous.)

Sounds like they are asking more of you than just throwing a party. If they are making you pre-sell these they are essentially charging you a fee to promote for them.

Are you a promotional company or a party company more?

It's a mix. I brand it as an "event and promotions" company. Typically, though, by promotions that means promotional events (ie. launches or brand awareness events) or promoters (as in a nightclub promoter that sends students to go clubbing on Saturday nights).

I specialize in nightclubs and dance parties, but more and more requests are coming in for launches. It's the third request for a launch in 2 weeks (which is odd for me).

First it was a local bar/nightclub, then one of the big players in town that owns a bunch of clubs, and then I managed to get connected to Google/Android through a luxury events company.

I would be making a commission selling the units, but I'm not sure how far I should stretch my services in order to throw this party and risk being incompetent. It is definitely a career changer, though.

Do you have a list of clients or attendees from your prior events whether they are nightclub, bar, brand launches, anything?

Are they offering pre-launch or exclusive prices on these units for yourself?

Are they just taking pre-orders or are you actually directing them to purchase these units somewhere?

    Lists.

Yes, I always have a list of clients and attendees. And my promoters have lists too.

It is comprised mainly of phone numbers and Facebook's of people between 20-28 who want to drink and dance, although I've networked extensively to build my business rolodex because I'm the company head.

Off the top of my head, not many of them would directly benefit from the Google/Android deal. So I'd be practically starting off from scratch. I don't know a lot of the network well enough to get an accurate idea (it's a party environment, you don't always talk about jobs).

    Pre-launch prices.

The basic box is available on the market already, this is the premium version. More customizable, more features. It is more expensive than it by approximately $50.

Basic unit is ~$150, this one is ~$200 taxes not included.

As far as I know, I cannot go below the $200 mark, and I am not sure of what the retail price will be.

    Pre-Orders.

I would need to commit to moving a minimum of 20-30 units. Not a whole lot, I could probably reach it in about a week's time from scratch. (I'm starting to get a grasp of how I'd sell them now.)

I can opt for either. They can provide a website and landing pages, but they'd cost $150 and I don't know what they look like or if I'd like the copy. I'm more likely just going to go with the option I usually do and create my own because I do a little web design.

Either way I need to take the orders in some way.

I, personally, would not "Pre-sell" for them.

I would tell them what I do and not let them tell me what I do.
