Affiliate Links in Sidebar ?

Hey Gang,

Just wondering what the norm is for disclosing affiliate links when we put them in our sidebar. Is having a disclaimer/disclosure in our footer enough? I don't want to title it "Affiliate Links" as I think this looks stupid. I'd rather title it "Our Top Recommendations" -- but if I do, can I just put something in the title so when people hover over it, then they see the affiliate disclosure. Can I call it sponsored links instead? Or is this even necessary since I already have it in the footer? Just wondering what the best way to do this... and the best way to word it without losing sales?

Thanks in Advance!

Could you use "Partners"? Is an affiliate a partner?

I have affiliate links in the side bar and elsewhere.
I have a disclaimer / disclosure page accessible from the main menu bar - this is always visible.
    Is this enough?

This is in fact enough, you can set it a disclosure text on your footer if you really want to, but a page linked to the main profile will be enough.

You think something this simple will lose you alot of sales. There's alot of things people do when marketing that makes them lose sales. Some of these people are millionaires. Don't seem to affect them any.

I doubt it will have a major impact of loss of sales.

I don't think losing sales is the issue - I'm sure you're right - not having a disclaimer will make no difference to a potential purchaser - most people know they're following affiliate links -

Still better not to end up in trouble with the FTC who require all online businesses that generate any form of income from the US to have a disclosure policy..

You don't have to list a disclaimer with every product or anything. As long as you have a link to your terms page with the disclaimer or in your footer this should be fine. I wouldn't go with the hover over disclaimer, I'd probably just use "Our Partners" or something along those lines.

Really, for something like this, you should look into it yourself. Maybe this will help:

A disclosure in the footer is enough don't want to confuse reader so they don't click on the banner
