I just got an email from Sitepoint... and I'm sure all of you that has an account with SP you've more than likely gotten the same email. Anyone that wants to buy/sell websites can visit flippa dot com I'm no affiliate of them in now way, but I'm merely passing along info. Sitepoint says that your SP login will work here as well. Looks like it costs 20 bucks to list your site ($10 more than SP), but its another avenue to buy/sell your sites. Enjoy DeShon |

They're also taking 5% of every sale which is really smart of them. However, they've really made it easy for someone else to come in and create a better offer now. We'll see what happens! |

I don't like the new designs. It seems like the front page only features the 'Featured Listings' which I assumed we have to pay more to be on the front page.

| Well, absolutely just like on Twitter suggested Twitter members to follow when we first signed up. I've heard it cost millions already to be on the list.

Also, you can either have a normal auction like SP already offers, and a "private auction" that lasts 6 months (can be ended early manually) but has no BIN and no reserve.

I don't like the idea of paying a premium to be on the front page either - I think the increase in SitePoint's cut will be more than enough already. However, since you have to scroll half a mile down the front page to be able to see any listings at all, I think most people will just click the ludicrously large 'buy a website' button, and land on a page where they all seem to be flung in together anyway. What I don't like most about the listing fee increase is that I might be more inclined to feel it justified if both SitePoint and any prospective buyers were to take my offering seriously. Which isn't likely. What kind of person looks to buy a website for anything less than bargain basement prices from a site with a godawful name like 'flippa'?! The name screams at me 'Make money quickly selling junk and line our pockets while you're at it, or make money buying our cut-price junk (while lining our pockets ) and then improving on it'.On the plus side, the layout of the actual listings doesn't seem too bad, and the 'Just Sold' tab could be useful. Given the increase in listing fees though, not to mention unsolds and relisting, I think most people who list with any volume and have more than half a clue what they're doing would be better off spending their money promoting their own site from which they sell websites. That name has got to be the worst thing about it though. Floppa might prove to be more accurate. I can't imagine what they were thinking. |

Well, it looks like this is going to replace the sitepoint marketplace at some time, from this quote on flippa Quote:
1. Stupid name. 2. The listing fees are okay...but 5% of the sales price?? That's going to cost me several hundred dollars a month. ![]() 3. I like the design, and the "just sold" and "ending soon" tabs....but those tabs alone are not worth the price increase. You can already see ending soon and those that have sold in the current marketplace. 4. Private sales as an alternative - who cares, you could already do this if the winning bidder chose to remain nameless....so nothing to see here. 5. Site & Phone verification - did this already, and you can already weed out bidders who don't verify their phone...so again, nothing to see here. 6. View counters on listings - who cares

Being a hip hop musician, I can tell you that the name IS definitely an African American type word. I do like it, but that's because I'm black haha. I can name another certain word that has an "a" instead of an "er". PM me to find out. But I HATE that they take a cut now. The marketplace has already become eBay's marketplace, and now with these cuts it will suck. |

I never really sold any of my sites. I am sure I could but the domain game just sucks. All the sites to me have so much garbage. Getting to the good ones is almost luck. Not to mention some people selling nothing for thousands of dollars. In all actuality this might help improve that. People are not going to list garbage and lose all sorts of money on the dang things. We will see though. |

| AFAIK this is merely a rumor. Someone did offer Twitter six figures to be on the list, but the offer wasn't accepted.

For a small site - say a $100 blog, we'd have the listing fee to cover, the 5% fee then the 4% or so paypal fees. So how much do we have left from the $100 sale? Not much. |

Yeah ... and doing what they say that we can now do ... make the buyer pay the success fee ... will only irritate buyers.

Whatever the changes to the fee structure and whoever ends up paying them, it does not alter the name of the site, which still stinks like a ten-week dead rotting cod and will devalue everything listed there. According to their latest blog post though, this view itself is worth less to them, as it comes as public protest instead of private praise, and those protesting in public are apparently just causing others to do the same. Quite how they think that implying their users are sheep will sway opinion, I'm not sure. SitePoint have put some good stuff out in the past, and this is nothing like it. |

I agree. I instantly hated the design and the domain name and that was before I read about the price increase. I think they will lose on this one.

I personally think this is a huge mistake for SP.. The fees are terrible, and the overall structure leaves a lot to be desired. When I was invited to beta test it a few months back, I cringed at the layout, the potential price structure.. all of it just reeks. /end rant.. and I call myself an optimist, haha... |
