Kwitcherbellyachin' and start making money

Been seeing a number of threads of late - posters complaining about the big bad "gurus" and how only those selling "make money online" products are making money, boo hoo hoo.

That is such an utter load of bull manure that I need to go get a bigger shovel. I've worked in other niches, and that's like taking candy from a baby.

But ... oh no, it takes work. Just like selling "make money online" products takes work. Sure, you can make a quick buck with a WSO, but c'mon is that what you really want to do for the rest of your life? Scrabble about picking up the crumbs? Making a quick buck every once in a while?

Get your butt out of here, quit wasting precious time and effort whining, and go apply it to actually building a business.

There was someone just today complaining that you can't build a list of interested customers for Bic pens. Oh really? I challenge this complainer to quit whining here and go to eBay. Type in "bic pen" and see how many different pens are selling right now. Then, think about expanding your business to Bic lighters. How many collectors items are there? Just in Bic alone.

So, instead of whining ... go make money.

But it's too hard! How about you do it for me and then hand me the money? Now that would be a coaching program I'd definitely join if it were free.

      LOL

Kidding aside, have to agree.. people get out there and DO something. Treat this like a proper business.

If it helps, pretend you have an actual boss who will be breathing down your neck if you don't get some work done today.. oh I know, pretend it's Kevin..

OK visions of Kevin telling me off for hanging around this forum too much so I am off to do some work..

I believe with you, Kevin. Well, we all started on IM with a bunch of information overload and its seem confusing what marketing strategy really works best for our business and which are just a waste of time. Only you will never really know what works until you tried it up. I also started with Ebay and Clickbank just like everyone else and just works hard from there.

    Kevin,

Please remember this is an internet marketing forum, an environment in which phrases such I quote above are inapporpriate and may well lead to further action being taken against you.

Please try to bear this in mind in future posts so as not to frighten some of our more sensitive colleagues.

Nigel - please can you explain what you mean when you say that Kevin's comments are 'inapporpriate'

Also, which one of us is going to stand up to 'take action' against someone of the quality and integrity of Kevin Riley Inc. I doubt very much if anyone (especially in here) would want to go there against the Hamster King - of all people!

Kevin's comments are certainly not 'inapporpriate' they are sound advice (as always!) for everyone in IM and beyond . . .

I agree 100% with Kevin's attitude on this one.

Everyone's that has found success had to go through their own personal gauntlet.

So, suck it up, research a proven online business model, buy or try to scrape together from free sources the step by step knowledge and resources/tools to properly conduct the model and do get busy testing to find something that will work for you.

    Hope This Helps!!

      Kevin, the problem is mindset.

Everybody needs to get on over to Mind Warriors and read my thread about
how I pulled myself up from the ashes. No, I'm not going to post a link here
and make it easy for you guys. Get off your butts and go there. And while
you're there, read some of the other great threads on how to get your head
      on straight.

The biggest problem marketers have is the 6 inches between their ears.

If you believe it's too hard, it will be too hard.

If you believe you will fail, you will fail.

If you believe only the gurus can make money, then only the gurus will
      make money.

But if you believe you can make it (I did and I ain't no guru) then you
      will make it.

As Kevin said, stop your bellyaching and get out there and do something.

Thank you sir, can I have another one?

Didn't we just have a thread like this about a month back

I seriously think this is a cycle.......I have been lurking on the Warrior forum for the past 5 months and during these 5 months I swear I have seen this type of post at least once a month.

Don't get me wrong....I agree most people just need to buck up and start selling and more importantly treat IM like any other day job. Too many are lured in by the promises of big money only to find out that you really need to work at this.....and there is a bigger learning curve than you think.

But again, it seems as though a new batch of Warriors join the forum and quickly become overwhelmed. They see the big boys making money and they start to whine and complain until someone lays down the guauntlet.

At this point one of two things happen. Either the newbie decides IM isn't for them and they quit......or......they say "Hell Yea....he's right...." and they get down to business.

Then, like clockwork, a new batch of Warrior Wannabe's jump on board and the whole cycle starts over.

It's actually kind of funny and to be honest I think it is healthy and important to make sure someone steps up to the plate and tell's it like is.

That is right, Kiven. I think one must really have the guts and test the waters first before buying couple software which they are not sure if it perfectly works for their online business or not. This saves you time and headache from suffering information overload specially if you are starting.

        Hi Kevin,

Straight and to the point. Just what "they" need to hear.

If the bellyachers' knew just how much energy they are wasting whining and complaining and instead put that energy into developing a profitable business... well, they would realize they are building a profitable business.

And they wouldn't have much reason to complain.

I have to agree with Steven about mindset.

I see too many people who think too little of themselves or their abilities.

Do they not know that they themselves are the masters of their own destinies by the choices they make, the directions they choose to go, the paths they choose to walk?

I think two great contributors to one's success or failure are one's self image and one's own self talk.

The image that they believe themselves to be now, and believe they will become, can have a tremendous affect on the choices they make and their outcome.

Self talk can be one's greatest ally or one's greatest nemesis.

It can propel you forward to unimaginable heights, or it can cause you to become paralyzed and ineffective.

But...choose your words and the direction of your self talk wisely, you therefore, choose your success or failure.

You, more than anyone else, can say this with impunity...you have opened up the way for many to start a profitable journey in online marketing regardless of their niche. You are even doing this free of charge with the current Success Manifesto 2011 - a project covering 2 years. If we who are involved with this project cannot make it then we should not be even considering a homebased business at all - and just go on working for the man.

That being said, there will always be those who like the ancient text that illustrates the man at the banquet table groaning with mountains of delicious food, complains that he cannot feed himself cause he is too lazy to stretch out his hand and pick up the food...

"The lazy one has hidden his hand in the banquet bowl; he has become too weary to bring it back to his mouth."
You, and many others, offer great and numerous ways to help newbies and others in this business, but it is up to them to finally take the steps to action.

          Cheers

look at google, ebay, amazon. I can bet that only a microscopical percentage of their income comes from "make money online" products. (And that little percentage only because people either sell them through them, or pay for ads.) ^^ There are an amazing amount of sites out there making money that have nothing to do with the MMO niche at all.

I'm working on tackling a massive niche and making it my personal cash cow atm ^^ I'm prepared for long months of slow progress. I will make it.

    Kevin,

Being cat people (my girlfriend's choice, not mine) we had a poster in the kitchen with a cat staring into the distance with a thought bubble coming out saying, "Sometimes I sit and think, and sometimes I just sit." Well, anyway, we think it's funny.

A lot of newbies tend to sit and think, think, think, plan, plan, dream, dream--but without taking action--some kind of action, even if it turns out to be the wrong action, none of that stuff matters. You can sit and think, or--just sit, but until the action thing comes into play, like you said--nothing happens.

A lot of times people wait too long to act because they want perfection in what they are trying to set up, and perfection just doesn't happen in online marketing. You give it your best shot, evaluate the results, and fine-tune it on the fly. But the key thing is the "give it your best shot" part. That's the action phrase and without that nothing else matters.

As Robert Burns once wrote, "The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, gang aft aglee." So if your online marketing plans should run aft aglee, learn from your mistakes and become better at what you do. There is no shame in failing first time out, only in not getting to the "first time out" part.

You mentioned the case of the list building for a bic pen website.

How would YOU go about building a list for something as cheap and uninteresting as bic pens? Surely you cant write a report about bic pens...there just isnt enough interesting stuff you can write about bic pens.

Maybe give away a free pen in exchange for a email address?

So you got the email address...but what good will that do you? Sure you could direct people to some pen sale sites but the commissions from that would be near nothing...Surely not enough to cover the cost of buying and shipping your pens out...

    Any thoughts?

Hayden Fry once told a reporter when asked how he dealt with problems with the University of Iowa football team...

    "I scratch where it itches."

He was sayin' that he dealt with the problem, whatever that problem was. It worked too, the Hawkeyes never won the Rose bowl during Fry's time, he got 'em there!

    ---

I know a company here locally that sold over $250,000 worth of T-Shirt transfer paper online just last year, 30% over 2007 sales.

All they did was buy transfer paper at a low price, repackage under their Brand and sold at a higher price.

It's called margin...the difference between your cost and your selling price. Naturally you want to buy low and sell high.

That company has expanded into scrap book supplies. One product they now repackage costs 12 cents a sheet, scrapbookers are paying them $1.99 a sheet, and buying $35, $50, $75, and even higher amounts at a time, of this product. It is insane!

    So, where are you scratchin'?

If I might suggest, some might consider getting away from information products and look real hard at tangible products. Yes you will have higher costs, if you are buying and selling. However, there are plenty of companies that will take you on as an affiliate...you can keep your costs manageable.

    ----

Again, where are you looking to scratch out a living? Check out these guys, it's hilarious!

    Anti Monkey Butt Powder
(no affiliation, well OK, I do know this stuff works)

It's like talcum powder repackaged under a funny label. They are making a killing! And it is sold in retail stores too, that's how I came to know about this product.

    • One big problem the majority of newbies face when
they come online looking to make money - they don't
even know how to use a computer!

Most don't even have basic computer skills like ftp,
copy and paste, can't even start to build a website,
set up a paypal button, etc..

It's like, if anybody even tried to explain to them
the need for basic computer skills, they don't want
      to hear it.

And I'm not even talking about more advanced skills
such as copywriting, keyword research, SEO, etc..

In 2 years of working Willie Crawford's helpdesk, as well
as my own, you would be amazed at the ignorance of
some people that buy products - even expensive ones
like PLF3.0 and expect us to tell them how to use it!

Well, if it were me I would start to build a list composed of businesses, who happen to buy pens a lot by the way

Here's a great example: vistaprint (online print shop). A friend emailed an invite about several free items from them. Well, I got 250 free business cards, turned down the OTO, and I'm now on their list. Straight list building and IM tactics being applied by a printing company!

Talking about Bic pens and lighters...Years ago I was staying in a backpackers in Hastings New Zealand.

That night a guy was in our bedroom sitting on his bed counting all his notes and cheques.
Hadn't seen that amount of cash before outside a bank, so I couldn't help myself, and had to ask him..."Geez man, how did you get all that cash?" He says, "oh, I got this Bic business and go around the Island selling them to all the dairy's. I said, "you stay in a bunkroom full of smelly travel guys, why dont you stay in a more upmarket place?" His reply, "I use to do that when travelling with a rock band. Rather stay in places like this to meet interesting people" Turns out he buys real cheap cars at auctions and drives them till they stop working and gets another beat up one.

He had a sales rep travelling the South Island.

So you never know who that dude is and how much money he's a makin'
