Best way to find programmers/designers for Partnership

I am currently working on a neat viral business idea that will eventually need a few developers in the near future to put the concept in place. I am a business college student and have great marketing skills. Any suggestions on finding a good partner, where? I have searched campus and found no real talent. My idea will need some an experienced programmer.

I think you should take a bit more time to read my post more carefully. I am not looking to hire anyone. I am looking for a programmer to partnership with. I rather find someone locally that has the drive and experience like I do, but am having trouble doing it this way. Are there any outlets besides Warrior that I can find business partners?

Thank you for actually reading the post, or the title at that. I think I can manage to find people for hire on warrior, a monkey can do that. I am not looking to hire overseas cheap workers for a potential million dollar business. I am looking for a partnership. I have sent you a PM.

I would go to Fiverr, find a programmer/designer on there(not from overseas) that has a good rating. I am sure they would be happy to join your jv and have already proved their selves to many people.

I still think we are underestimating my business idea by going to fiver for a developer. I think fiver is a place for rookies or small game guys. I am looking for a well known or experienced developer that wants to take a shot at making it big and sharing equity in my company.

Let me ask you. You are gonna be putting in the idea and what type of marketing? Are you investing money on any of the cost?

What college do you attend? I have some ties to the Michigan area, so I'm just curious.

Check out the comp sci department at your university. It's probably filled with talented programmers who would be willing to listen to your startup ideas and possibly form a partnership.

As what JG said, since you are in college, why don't put up a bulletin or a flyer or even create a contest to attract good programmers at school. That way, you can get a quality programmer/s that you could be your partner.

Check out a co-working spot near where you live. There's usually tons of freelance programmers that go there and many of them would be up for a partnership.

Also, if you live nearby and can meet in person it will make the collaboration process go much smoother. It's a lot harder to figure things out though email and phone than it is in person.

There's a great list of co working locations by state here: Coworking wiki / Directory

I do see partnership offers now and again on Freelancer sites. It is going to need to be an epic idea for somebody to drop paying work.

The main issue you have is this. It seems like you are looking for someone with great experience. Your ideal candidate likely also has business experience and has seen a hundred guys that thought they had a million dollar idea and wanted them to work for free and that is a hard sell unless there is some sort of relationship with them. I will second what jevssss said and also say that if you can find out where local programmers hang out such as special interest groups etc.. you may be able to connect there. Beyond that social networking and asking everyone you know. Eventually someone will recommend someone to you. Good luck.

Central Michigan University, PM me if you have any ideas, would love to hear them. My idea is very unique and Michigan colleges is where I am starting this business from.

Great experience? No, just someone that should be able to develop a simple concept with a 2-4 year experience, nothing too extensive. Obviously everyone has a million dollar idea that needs to be heard. How hard is it for a college student to take a few hours of his time out of the day to work on a project that could potentially put him in the best financial position and a chance to go big. If all fails, he loses nothing but time. It will look great on his resume or portfolio and it gains him more experience and knowledge. It is not hard to sell a good idea in someones head, lots of people just hear million dollar, or viral , and think oh just a bad idea most likely.

All I am asking is for an experienced developer to hear me out for 1 hour and if he likes the idea which I couldn't imagine them not liking it, then we are off to success.

I have created many programs. People promise me commission. However, once the game is a success... they do not want to pay me. Hey, this should surprise no one.

For example, just now Blake Jareds earned $50,000 in credits by signing people up. The company did not want to pay up. They froze his account and sent him on his way.

look at it from the potential partners perspective and then ask whats in it for me?

If I were going to do what you are considering, my initial thinking would involve setting up a licensed business. Then offer shares of the company as part of your offer in exchange for the time they will be committing themselves to the development project.

I doubt that there is no other talent there besides yourself. I know that Central Michigan area a little, and you should maybe try to canvass Michigan State also, they're not too far. Especially if most of your communication will be online. what is it, an hour and a half drive? that's not bad for an occasional face to face if need be, but that's an issue you would have to determine
