How important is it where the hosting server is located?

Hi,

i started doing research about affiliate marketing. What I couldn't find out yet is if it really matters where the hosting server of the service i choose is located?

Or does it depends on where I choose to market?

I am located in Australia and wanna start with the Amazon Affiliate Program to see if it's something I can do in general. Would I choose an Australian Hosting Service if I decide to link to Amazon.com.au and an American on if I link to Amazon.com. How does it work? Does it matter?

What happens if an Australian costumer uses an affiliated link to Amazon.com and then swaps via Amazon to the Australian version and buys... would I still get commission?

Thanks for your help.

PS: my first post, so I hoped I ended up in the right category and the post is according the rules...

First of all welcome to the Warrior Forum.

No, it does not really matter where the location of the servers are that your hosting company uses. What is more important is the reliability and security of the servers a hosting company uses.

I am located in Australia and use a well known host called Hostgator which are located in the U.S.A and I can still send Australians to my websites.

I don`t think it really matters which Amazon website your promoting as an affiliate.
It is Amazon who will pay you your commissions for any sales that take place from people buying through your link - I think Amazon in the USA will send cheques to other countries in the mail including to people in Australia.

Hope that makes things clearer and all the best with your online activities.

It is not important unless you have regional web directory.

If your hosting location is very far than your physical location then the latency might increase. If possible make sure that the web hosting is located in the same region.
