Semi new at WordPress

I know a little bit about it, but not very much.

I have experience with other HTML website creators, but not Wordpress. I wanna change the text in the footer, but don't know PHP code.

Can I instead just use plugins? Everything I need or want I can do with downloading plugins, correct???

When it comes to Plugins, only use them if you absolutely have to. Good Pagespeed is vital for optimizing your SEO with the almighty Google, and plugins slow your WordPress installation down. Besides, using a plugin to manipulate text is like using a rocket launcher to kill a fly. What template are you using? Maybe I can help point you in the right direction.

Really depends on what theme you are using. Some themes you can use a plugin others you have to change the php code. Also depends on how much you want to change. Need more info.

My wordpress website is hosted from hostgator, would that make my website load speed faster?

The host DOES matter, but Hostgator is fine. What theme are you using? Have you looked at Genesis Themes by StudioPress? They load quickly, are SEO Optimized and have tons of widgets to make it easier to control your layout.

I would second this, I initially used different themes for all my different sites but wasted hours trying to solve problems that had a different solution for each theme that I was using.

I recently made the decision to convert all my sites to Genesis (which admittedly took a while!) and it is now so easy to find answers to questions like this as the code is much cleaner and more consistent and there is so much Genesis content and support available online.

The best thing about wordpress is that you need to know NOTHING to make it work. A few tutorial vids on youtube and you'll be right as rain.

I find that once you have done something once, you never forget how to do it with wordpress. Somethings can get fustrating but you will always manage to find a fix for it.

    Best of Luck

+1 for the Genesis Framework! Really nice and clean code, and if you want to build your own theme on the Genesis framework, there is the Dynamic Website Builder!

You need to edit the footer.php file. If you know HTML, you shouldn't have any difficulty.

This post on the WordPress support forum explains how to do it (sort of) WordPress › Support » Edit Footer.php. Not an affiliate link.
