Hi all,

What are the essential WP plugins that you know you will install on any site you create no matter what type of design/niche/layout/industry you are going for,

Best regards
Marko

The first one on is Bulletproof security for me!

As you will no doubt know, there is a plugin for just about every task required in Wordpress - security is important so as davidmas00 pointed out, bulletproof is worth a look...

You have to be careful not to 'over cook' with plugins as you will spend all of your time updating and too many can have an impact on your site speed...

    That said, here are some that I recommend;

    - Google Analytics for Wordpress
    - Google XML Siemap
    - Contact Form 7
    - Wordpress SEO (Yoast)
    - W3 Total Cache
    - Google + Author Information
    - Simple Share Buttons

    Hope that helps?

    Andy

Contact form 7 and yoast as mentioned by Andy above get on my list although I prefer not to use a plugin for my analytics.

To be honest. None. For SEO all you need to do is really learn how to use the already provided fields or use custom fields. For security a good htaccess file with rules, good enough.

Cache, don't need it until I have lots of traffic and they can benefit from it.

You fail to mention that not only having a huge list of plugins will slown down your site, but also every plugin multiplies the security vulnerabilities of your site. So learning how to use WP with the minimum amount of plugins or none at all its your best approach.

yoast is a bloated plugin with bunch of old code and old logic. If you really want to optimize your WP learn how to use the provided fields or get SEOPressor 5. Learning how to use wordpress effectively is part of your learning curve to be successful.

Yeah, you forgot to mention that Yoast is free and Seopressor will set you back $50-500

And you forgot to mention that I mention a free alternative as well. To make money, you have to invest. Show me a successful business that runs with 0 cost.

    My essentials would be

    SEO Yoast
    Bulletproof Security

I do use others but I wouldn't say they are essential

    My essential plugins for security:
Limit login attempts - protects from brute forcing your login/password.
BackWPup - makes regular back up of your WordPress database and files.

I always use the Disqus plugin for comments.
That's the only thing I've found that completely gets rid of the comment spam issues, and its free.

    Some I Use:

    WP Clone (Free)
    Ninja Popups (Paid)
Text Blocks (Free - Can create blocks of text to reuse through shortcodes)
Remote Images Grabber (Free - Great to transfer images from html sites to WP)
PC Hide Pages (Free - Hide Pages From WP Menus, like a "Thank Tou Page")
Duplicate Post (Free - Clone posts or pages)
Admin Menu Reorder (Free - Can organize your admin sidebar menu as per your needs).

I'm using 3 or 4 more (i'm not including those that i've developed) but basically, those help me to save lot of time and/or make my job easier.
