Yes Virginia, There Really Are Good People In IM!

I occasionally see rants about this or that type of idiot that unfortunately we are all forced to deal with at some point. I get it, trust me.

IM has kind of a bad (depends who you listen to) reputation, and usually the actual good people get lost in a sea of hype and nonsense.

So here's an anti-rant for the people who do what they say they will, with a smile.

The helpful customer service.

The kind words.

So if you are new, don't despair - be selective.

    Bad apples will always appear because:
    - The anonymity of the internet
    - Marketers often view their consumer base as a dollar sign instead of actual people

    That being said, I've met some incredibly friendly people since beginning my online endeavors, so not everyone is bad!

    There are tons of good apples in IM, just unfortunately over-shadowed by the bad. Same can be said for many sales / marketing industries.
    Here's what's intriguing. Regardless of market, it's easier to KEEP a customer than GAIN one. So why would anyone neglect customer service?

    The IM industry got the reputation it deserves.

    Not saying there aren't good people in IM, but about 95% to 99% of all IMers are cheats, scammers or just plain fraudulent in some way or another. This is why it is so hard for many to make it in IM.

    The honest people in IM are automatically looked upon as con artists themselves, even though they aren't.

    It's the old 'guilt by association' syndrome at work here, and so the honest internet marketers start with a huge handicap, right out of the starting gate.
