A greatings and a question from a new member

Hello Warriors, I am Jake!

I look forward to learning so much from you all and contributing where I can.

I'm newish to the whole industry, have looked on from the sidelines fairly indepthly for a six month period about a year ago. But now after having had the universe align for me, I am really ready to give things a shot in the world of internet marketing.

Now I have a couple of questions...

For the other people new to internet marketing...
What areas of the industry would you like to learn about the most?

I am really interested in the whole flow of people/prospects/traffic in and out of sites, offers and auto-responders.

Would other people be more interested in the technical side of things? contacts? or basic overviews of how everything works or how money is made?

And for the experts out there (and dont be modest)

What area of the industry have the steepest learning curves and the biggest hurdles? Where do most people find themselves struggling or becoming unstuck?

Your feedback is so greatly appreciated in advance!

Cheers,
Jake

    Hi Jake,

I'm in a similar situation to you having been studying internet marketing on and off for over a year but just recently started to get serious about it.

I would say that there is an abundance of good information on all of the individual technical aspects of IM - the challenge is to put it all together in a coherent money making system.

Personally I have chosen my niche (how to make money online) but still pondering the best way for me to add value to this field considering that I've never made any money online (apart from online poker, but that's another story!)

How are you going to teach other people then?

Just a word of warning: I'd suggest starting off in a niche you at least have some experience in... Otherwise you're going to have a lot of struggles trying to make it work.

This way you won't have to "ponder" about the best ways to add value - you'll already know what your market wants.

And then once you find success in that niche, you can return (if you still want to) to the MMO niche because you'll be equipped with actual techniques that worked for you, cool bank screenshots full of money that shows proof, etc...

        AffMack,

Thanks for taking the time to give me your feedback, I will definitely give this some thought. However it isn't my intention to teach others to make money online when I haven't (yet) done so myself.

I was thinking more of specialising in a particular element of IM and studying it with a passion until I was knowledgeable enough for my knowledge to be of value to others. For example if I spent 3 months just learning about Twitter then I think I could create something of value even to experienced IMers.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

I have looked at other niches, I had my own business with 2 B&M fashion and gift shops for 10 years and have considered an affiliate retail website so maybe I will look at this again.

    Haha, great!
Thanks for the reply, I will be in a similar niche. I guess we are both up for a challenge starting in this field.
The value adding part is where the idea of this post came from.
I guess I could ask the questions in a different way.

For the fresh marketers: Where do you want value added?

And for the seasoned marketers: Where do we need value added

You would get much better answers if you asked one question at a time.

People have different education, interests, skills, etc., so "other people new to internet marketing" are different from each other and would like to learn different subjects. You are a good example of someone that knows a lot on various subjects, but lacks knowledge of other subjects (we all are like that).

From experience. most people that are "new to internet marketing" try to learn everything at once becoming overwhelmed with too much information and end up.. giving up. For example you said:
I am really interested in the whole flow of people/prospects/traffic in and out of sites, offers and auto-responders.
That is a lot to learn, implement, and earn money. Yes, it can be done, but what is the source of the information and is the information reliable.
Would other people be more interested in the technical side of things? contacts? or basic overviews of how everything works or how money is made?
See my first comment "People have different education, interests, skills, etc..." and realize that some people are more business inclined and focus on marketing, but have no inclination for "the technical side of things."
And for the experts out there (and dont be modest)

I am not an expert, but I do make a living in internet marketing, so I can only comment about what works for me and my beginner clients. People new to internet marketing (beginners) learn best when they get involved in proven ways to make money on the internet. Sometimes it is not a lot of money, but a proven way is always good to learn and the knowledge gained can encompass different industries, learning curves, marketing, autoresponders, etc. etc.

One thing I learned early on is people want to make money and when they are shown or given different ways to make a stable income and they stay with it for the long term - those same people maintain an interest and move forward learning as they go.
