I am not sure if this has been discussed before, so I apologize if this is a duplicate of any other thread, but I recently came across a WP plugin that I am really pleased with.

It is a drop down menu for the Admin area by Planet OZH. At first I thought it wouldn't be much help but the more I use it on my blogs, the more I am really falling in love with it. This plugin makes administering my blogs so much easier.

I know that wp2.7 and up has a nice sidebar of options, but for some reason this set up is just a LOT more intuitive for me.

I have also seen a few other similar plugins but have not used any of them. I would enjoy hearing about experiences with them as well.

Thanks Phil,

Cool plugin - It helps me with a theme I'm working on - I wanted to make the WYSIWYG editor the same size as the post width and use the same CSS. This plugin solves the narrow width problem.

And... I think I prefer the menu up top - makes it tidier

I've been niggled by the WordPress menu ever since they changed it from horizontal to vertical - I much prefered it how it was before - so the sound of this plugin appealed to me.

A bonus is that I can colour the menu bar whatever I like, so that my admins can look as different as my sites do. There are so many distractions in this house that it's not uncommon for me to be doing something for one site while forgetting that I'm actually logged into the admin of another. Oops.

This is how the WordPress admin should always have been. I like it

  You know that's happened to me a lot lately. I just put it down to a "senior moment" but you have a great idea about using separate colors for the header bar.

This is a great plugin!

What a great idea about using different colors on different sites! I must say, I too have missed the horizontal layout. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I got it back, lol! Man it's great to have the menu up top again!

Now that is a useful plugin! Like others, I've really been bugged by the appearance of the 2.7 admin panel. Everything felt too squished together and busy. Plus, you have to constantly scroll down to get to some of the different functions. And I hated the tiny post box. This definitely makes things roomier and easy to use. Thanks for sharing it!

Hi Garrie;

I am not sure what your post means, but if you are having difficulty downloading the file from Wordpress.org just use the link in the first post to download it.

Otherwise, can you be a bit more specific as to what your problem is?

For some reason, when I download anything from Wordpress.org the file downloads 99% and says its complete. Only happens there and for Angelas Backlinks. IE and FireFox both have the same result.

Many times if I download it enough times, I'll get a "working" version. Just takes time.

The download link on the authors site is a redirect to wordpess.org.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who is really bothered by the new admin setup in wordpress! I'm constantly scrolling up and down to access the things I need. Such a pain in the toucas.

I really do NOT like the sidebar admin in the latest wp version 2.7. Based on all the wonderful reviews here, I am certainly going to try this plugin. Thanks for sharing it.

  Yeah, this plugin is one of the first I install on a new WP installation. I find it difficult to navigate the WP interface without it now.
