I am watching a youtube video on on leadpages now and they are talking percentages of effectiveness.
It goes for over an hour and I started at 1:30am and didn't think I would watch for anymore than 15min. But I've almost finished it now.
    Might give up some info.

It is a sales video really, but it does have some interesting points. I am not affiliated in anyway.

As simple as humanly possible takes the cake for me.

    Plain white background, nothing fancy

    1) Big, Bold Headline.

    2) Compact Call to Action.

    3) Opt-in box. With a Big "MF" Button. (Big "Major Force" Button).

I would say split test different models of squeeze page because the one works for me not necessarily work for you. It depends on what do you have to offer. Generate curiosity and a strong call to action would work better.

Few items that I've done in the past month that have brought my squeeze from 35% to 50% conversions from solo traffic:

      1) Change CTA button to blue. People are already used to clicking blue as a link, so make your button blue.

      2) Got rid of background image. Found it distracts people from the one thing I want them to do, opt-in!

      3) Got rid of "We will not spam you" underneath email form. Why remind them that some people use these forms to spam their inbox to death?

Simple little changes that have made a huge difference for me.

      Thanks, Shane

I'm a bit outside the box on this one, because I define "what works best" a bit differently.

Most folks want as many opt-ins as possible, so they tweak and test for that. In the process, many of those folks forget why they want these people on a list in the first place.

My landing pages have two jobs. Give the right people enough information to want to take the next step and opt-in, and give the wrong people enough information to realize they're wrong and allow them to move on.

To that end, most of my landing pages look a lot like the site housing them (mostly blog styled sites), only with minimal navigation to avoid distractions. Headlines and subheads are styled with the same style sheet as the main site. The opt-in form and button are standard, but sized a bit larger to make them more prominent.

Like Shane F above, I don't use any kind of "we promise not to spam you" statement. I quit using it years ago when I read research that the human subconscious has a hard time processing negations. In other words, the eyes see "we promise not to spam you" and the subconscious sees "we promise to spam you."

I might get more opt-ins using one of the other formats mentioned, but that would mean the page is only doing half of the job I intend it to do.

        Thanks for providing VALUE Shane.

You know, I've been using ORANGE buttons (the "Belcher" buttons we see EVERYWHERE) for years. I may try this one.

Test, test and more test. Depends on your audience and traffic, #1 concern being the demographics of your niche. Are they video watchers or readers? Combination? You just won't know until you try a few methods and examine the results.

I've had great results combining the bullet point page and the video squeeze page. The people that want to watch do it, but those that don't can find out everything they need from the bullet points.

But, like everything else, this will vary by campaign and you need to split test it.
