Where's the best place to sell a website?

Is Flippa the best place for selling a website? Or is there another site that you prefer?

If you have any other tips, I'd love to hear them.

EDIT: I'd rather not pay a fee to list my site. Thanks.

I would choose Flippa or forum marketplaces related to your niche. If it is worth < $50 eBay is also worth a try.

If you have a low end site then I'd go with Flippa and if you have a high end site then I'll go with private brokers. Flippa is not the place to sell high end websites.

Flippa is the largest marketplace for buying and selling websites but sometimes are hard to sell a site. Try Sedo or Ebay.

You can try Flippa but I guess they have poor buyer protection.

As for alternatives, you can try BuySellWebsite.com

Try DigitalPoint. If you become an established member you can list your site on there for free. It can be hard and expansive to sell on Flippa. You could also try offering the site to other businesses in your niche.

I know of those 3 sites where you can sell your websites. There may be others and you can get them through google search.

Make sure your website is worth the price of Flippa because the success fee has increased so the listing fee plus success fee is pretty high. For a site that doesn't sell for much, you won't make much.

    James,

Contrary to what others have said, I personally believe that the best way to sell a web site is to go directly to site owners in the niche that could benefit from what your site has to offer. Go to your competitors. Go to new sites in the niche that don't have the traffic or subscribers you have. What I'm telling you is to target your potential buyers just like you would target an offer.

Google the top keyword phrases that you rank for and go to the highest ranked sites in the search results. These are the sites/owners that will recognize the worth of your site. If you are drawing decent traffic, they will want it. If your site has great content, they will want it.

Browsers on Flippa are not targeted to your niche.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve

I have sold sites both on Flippa and the Digital Forum marketplace. All 3 transactions were OK, good buyers in all cases.
