Method for generating company e-mails?

Hello all,

I was just wondering if there was an easy way to find all general enquiry e-mails relating to a specific field. Just a little background : I work in an industry where I don't sell a product rather I give a service and all my sales are 1-3 year long contracts. My previous method for this was to drop into companies by foot and drop off my company profile and hope they liked me enough to invite me the next time they renewed their contracts. I have recently found it is a lot easier to just find a lot of e-mails and just send out my details then do a follow up a few days later. The trouble is it seems very tedious to find general enquiry e-mails. Does anyone know of good methods to find a lot of e-mails relating to a specific area/industry?

Regards,
L

Yes, and most consider such an approach "spamming."

You can send unsolicited commercial emails without being in violation of the Can-Spam Act; however, most bulk emailers don't do it right or legally.

Here's a way to do what you want. There is a multi-volume set of books at most large libraries called the "Encyclopedia of Associations." [ You can purchase the set but they are very expensive ] This series lists all the associations in the US that are of any size and gives you details about each one and a contact person. Many associations will allow a person to contact their members through the association (not as a business sending spam to the members).

If you can show you have a quality service or product and you will give value to the members, you may be able to advertise in the association newsletter or through a solo mailing for a fee.

Do you see the power of targeting your prospects by going through a reliable and credible association that will contact its members for you? This is laser targeting your audience and it rarely gets better than this!

Here's another online resource (although not nearly as comprehensive):

    Weddles Directory of Assocations

    The very best to you,

I would say "some" not "most" and certainly the FTC has no problem.

There is nothing about CAN-SPAM and other anti spam laws that says you cannot send unsolicited email.

Unsolicited email, just like unsolicited bulk mail and flyers, is a valuable and legitimate way to reach leads.

For the OP I would look at a legitimate list broker who can provide access to leads in your industry that meet your criteria and budget.

Thank for the help. Do you recommend any good list brokers? Didn't even realise there was even such a service.

One I was thinking of is Nextmark but I have never used them.

Mailing List Finder -- Search & Compare Mailing Lists

If you Google around you should find some more. Just make sure you ask questions and know exactly what you are getting.

For example, what is the source of the list? The broker should be able to tell you if the list is made from opt-ins, scraping emails or compiled from industry directories.

Also make sure you understand costs. Some seem cheap up front with a low-ball price but add in extra costs for things like demographic criteria. Any added criteria like sex/age range/occupation/income/etc. can add additional costs to the service.
