For arguments sake (or just fun)

You have $2,000 to play with.

You already have your domain with hoisting and Wordpress installed.

You have chosen your niche. And it's NOT the make money online niche.

You want to build a long term profitable online business.

What would you do?

Build out a blog? A Facebook Fan Page? Find CPA offers? Clickbank? Other??

I know this is vague, just interested to see how diff folks would approach it.

I would certainly build a list.
Building list means building your bank account

I'd come up with something unique I could have manufactured in China for under $1500, then use $500 on adwords. Then repeat.

I'd do ALL of those things you mentioned. No need to be a this or that situation. You should be doing it all if you want to make noise in your chosen market.

To be honest. I would put that 2k USD away.. and write my own quality content that actually helps my readers. That 2k USD can help on hosting for a very long time.

If you are in the mindset of thinking you need to spend all of that 2k USD, then you have the wrong idea. Write quality content. Build a good relationship and prosper.

In my opinion, no you don't need one of those gimmicky "email lists". Just give the readers of your website real information that they can learn from. Use the money to better yourself in real life and not internet marketing.

Build a list that's the most important think. Anticoder says you don't need one but see it that way building a blog and giving your readers great value is a must but you relay always on google if they think your site is not good than people won't find your content. With a list on the other hand you have traffic on demand that means you can sent your subscribers also to your blog where you provide great value for them.

Of course if you wanna build a real business you have to build your brand with a website, Facebook, Youtube and so on but funnel all this traffic to a squeeze page and start building trust and a relationship with your subscribers.
