C-Panel password request...

I had someone from fiverr.com install a blog for me on Wordpress.

He said that he needed my C-Panel Log-In and Password. (Not the Wordpress login information)

Now I am concerned that he asked for this information when everyone else just asks for the wordpress log in information.

I will re-set the password, but should I have to worry about anything else?

Thanks

How is he supposed to install WordPress without access to CPanel? I mean, he is either going to need A) CPanel access to use Fantastico to install WP or B) CPanel access to create a database for use with a manual WP install.

That said, I wouldn't trust just anyone with it.

If you want to do get the installation done by another person then, You have to give cPanel Password, other wise he will not be able to create a database which is necessary for installation of WordPress on your hosting account.

Now after installation of WordPress, In most cases WordPress access details will be required.

However, by giving the cPanel access, you are giving everything away with him along-with the details of other websites as well as software installed within your hosting account and hence it is very important to validate his authenticity and trustworthiness before giving any access details.

      Thanks.

      I am changing the passwords.

I am just wondering if I need to do anything else?

      Thanks again.

After it has been installed, yes, change your password, but then also look to make sure no additional users were created (eg. Look at the FTP accounts).
