What are the best article directories??

    For my purposes, there is EzineArticles.com, followed distantly by everybody else.

    If you just want a crappy directory to dump crappy articles for crappy (or worse) links, do a search for "Pligg". It's a free, open source article directory program that provides the engine for thousands of worthless accept-anything directories that haven't been seen by man or spider since they were launched and forgotten.

    Ezine Articles yes, but I find that for getting traffic to niche websites, Squidoo is still pretty nice, but you won't get any SEO benefits as it is rel=nofollow.

      You know, I used to think that article directories were the cat's meow. Now I think they're the cats sandbox because of what goes into them.

      Honestly, most directories have gotten to the point that I don't want my writing associated with all the other dung that's in there. Really! Your hard work becomes guilty by association.

      If you are a good writer (or are outsourcing to a good writer), I think that syndicating your content is a much more productive approach. You can be creative, unique, and you won't be compared with anyone else.

        If you are going for article syndication, Ezine Articles is still well-regarded by publishers for sourcing content, as well as a recognized author portfolio when querying publications. IMO, no other article directory comes close.
