word-to-pdf (adobe) question

Is it safe to assume that there's no such thing as a free adobe (acrobat, pdf, reader) download? and that any link that I find that suggests as such, will just redirect me to the 30 day trial, regardless...?

It would seem that I cannot get away without an adobe-generated/supplied serial # ?

advice appreciated thanks

    Ian,

I'm assuming you don't actually want the reader that you mention as that is free.

If you're looking to convert a Word document to PDF, as your title suggests, you can do that in MS Word itself. Alternatively another option is to use Open Office which is completely free and, in my opinion, a better way to convert from .Doc to PDF.

There are also a whole range of free converters that are available if you do a search on Google. Or another option would be to buy a second hand copy of Ebay if you especially want Adobe's own product.

If I've misunderstood what you're trying to do give us some more information and someone should be able to answer your question.

    Nigel

As Nigel says, get the open source OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite - converting to PDF is a piece of cake.

I have had this problem before. I wanted to convert a word document to a pdf. The easiest way to do this is by using your gmail account.

      All works nicely but...

Is there no way I can do any of this without being prompted by "X number of days left on your free trial" (that I entered into last week, but have since cancelled from the software supplier) or to purchase and enter a serial # for loads of dollars ?

Do you mean from Adobe themselves? Or are you talking about one of these other suppliers?

You can't get around the X number of days (well, you actually can) because by doing that you would have an unlicensed copy which is piracy If you are planning to use the software then why not purchase it? Or purchase one of the many other pdf converter options?

I've been using the free (lite) version of Cute PDF for several years now, it never expires and works great with all my applications.

CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms, Edit PDF easily.

Another obvious choice is Open Office, as it has an "export to PDF" function. I use it for all my reports and e-books.
