This is probably my biggest frustration - lousy JV offers ALL THE TIME. Most people who contact me say something to this affect:

"Hi,

I am a noob (basically). And I have a lousy product I just had approved with ClickBank.

Because you are an established marketer with a proven list of buyers, can I please ask you to send your buyers to my lousy pitch page that has a giant opt-in sign up... and in exchange I will allow you to make 50% commission on the ClickBank sale if any of my lousy product sells. And if not (which I don't think it will) I will just build my list from your PROVEN LOYAL BUYERS

thanks"

Ok, they don't exactly use the same words... but that's what they mean.. or what IT means...

And then when I say well maybe, send me a review copy, they act like they are the God and say well you can see a preview at this link.... what??? a preview??? are you kidding me??

Maybe I am just venting.... when I contact a potential JV I send them my stats from my google webmaster tools, graphs that show traffic, etc.

No?? Is it not how it's done when you want to show you are serious about this business??

What do you think?

Thanks

It almost sounds like you should have some standard copy to reply to these people. I generally just tell people that I don't do JV with people I don't know, and once I get to know them better (say in a few months), we can discuss this more seriously. And if they are really serious, they will work harder to impress me in the coming months.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

You are not alone in this frustration. I receive joint-venture requests from people quite frequently.

One of my biggest frustrations is when their product doesn't match my niche. My niche is traffic generation and I have received joint-venture requests for weight-loss products which has nothing to do with my niche.

My advice is to compose a standard e-mail response that you send to all of these joint-venture requests. The e-mail would say that they have to provide conversion rate statistics for their product. They also need to furnish you a complete copy of their product free of charge for review.

These two things would ensure that 95% of people never e-mail you back.

I agree that if you are getting that many request add FAQ and details of what you will or will not accept for offers. I know you will end up having those that ignore what you say and send their info anyway but that may help decrease it. Those that already have built a relationship with you will know how to bypass that process.

    Just a thought...

I get emails all the time from people wanting to partner up or do some sort of link exchange. Most of the time it's cut and paste emails obviously sent to everyone even remotely related to my niche. I usually delete them. If someone sends me an email and it's apparent they actually read through my site, I'll start talking to them.

I'm also amazed at how so few people follow up. If you don't respond to them you never hear from them again. Sometimes it pays to be persistent.

I think this business is quite often full of people who only ever think "what is in it for me?"

When approaching a JV or any potential business partner, I think it pays to be clear about how your proposed deal will benefit the prospective JV, the next step from that is to be able to clearly communicate that benefit to the person you are talking to as well.

I get a few of those every now and then, I have a canned message saved just for those .

One time I got a noob that wanted me to JV with him, I asked for the review copy and he told me he can get me a 50% discount. He is contacting me asking for some help and he is pitching me his product that I did not even land on his page or have the slightest interest in it at all and he wants to sell me it for 50% off.

Just allot newbies out there that just are jumping in the game to early. There is plenty of free information floating around the internet on how to properly handle JV's.
