Audio / mic won't unmute w/ latest XP updates....

If anyone can help wth this, it would be much appreciated:


...on different computers, both with Windows XP, we have different audio software and different headphones with speakers.

Since the latest Microsoft updates to Windows, neither machine will allow us to go in through the control panel and adjust the microphone volumes at all.

We can hear with head phones, but cannot get speech / sounds recorded or to be heard by others.


So:

- -sounds like it's not equipment or sounds software, since it's all different .

--sounds like XP, right?


Searches turn up a variety of driver issues, but downloading some so far has helped with nothing.

Any help?
