How much bandwidth is enough for a membership site?

Hello Warriors ,

I am preparing a comprehensive membership site in the IM Niche. It will be a video based membership site with 100s of videos from start and also i will be adding content weekly for members ( like webinars ).

My question is :

1 st : How much bandwidth is enough for this kind of sites ?

2 nd : Which is better : a2hosting.com ( 1TB bandwidth) or Liquidweb.com
( 5 TB Bandwidth) If I want to stay with them LONG Time ?

As your website contains videos and multiple members, they will upload videos. so 5 Tb bandwidth will be a best option for long time run.

You're probably better off hosting your videos elsewhere and embedding them into your members area.

Here is what my set up looks like:

hosting: Site5 Web Hosting - Free 30 Day Trial + Choose Your Location

cms: wordpress

theme for sales page / free content: OptimizePress - Create Landing Pages, Sales Pages & Membership Portals — OptimizePressCreate Landing Pages, Sales Pages & Membership Portals <- installed on main domain

theme for members area: OptimizePress - Create Landing Pages, Sales Pages & Membership Portals — OptimizePressCreate Landing Pages, Sales Pages & Membership Portals <- installed on subdomain (ie; members.mysite.com)

content locking: WishList Member | Membership Site Software

forum: I started with Simpleress which is free and integrates with wishlist member but I out grew it as my forums got larger and it slowed down my server so I switched to: https://www.invisionpower.com/

video hosting: I use Video Hosting for Businesses - SproutVideo and embed the code in my members area. I like them because they allow me to set which domains the videos can be played on (so the embedded codes can't be shared)

that's it.. I use Clickbank for payment processing so that affiliates can be promote for me but Wishlist integrates with almost everyone.

I would suggest you use Vimeo business plan.

You can upload up to 1000 GB videos a year with unlimited HD plays.

No need to worry about bandwidth. Vimeo handles everything.

As JefferyHuan said, using a service like Vimeo can take a lot of the headaches out of running videos on your site.

Another good option is to use Amazon S3. It's an extremely cheap disk space solution, but you'll still have to handle the techy details of playing the videos from your site
