Need Some Opinions Please

Hi

I've set up a test page with some rather large green sales buttons throughout the page with the biggest being at the bottom of the page.

My wife reckons they're tacky, especially the color, and lower the tone of the page
My justification is that they will definitely make people aware that I'm selling a book.

I'd appreciate some opinions (i know one of them will be "test" them) but I'd like some opinions from Warriors

The page is African recipes, African cooking and African Cookbooks, The African Recipes Book, Real food from Africa

Thanks

Michael

If I was in the market for African recipes I wouldn't let the green button stop me from purchasing.

I guess you know that you should test it against another payment button or link right?

    Hope This Helps!!

      Michael,

I'm never letting you shop for clothes for me...

Your wife is right. It's horrible (IMNSHO, of course.) Maybe try the yellow from the header of the page, about 1/3 of the way over from the left. That will stand out against the white background of the text area, and still not jar anyone with more color sense than a gnubie.

I'm with the wife too - but I think the famous Belcher Button might look good on there.

    Thanks Guys

I wanted something to smack people in the eye, & to get away from the rather sedate buttons (animated gifs) I'd been using before

Seems I've gone too far in the opposite direction.

      [chuckle]There's always Garanimals, Michael.

Now, ask her what she thinks of the yellow I suggested. If she agrees with me, you have your answer.

    Michael,

There's a word that comes to mind.. but
it's not something that should be typed
    out loud. ;-)

Obviously I'm not familiar with your target
market. However, the text on the button
    is worth experimenting with.

I've had a lot of success with
    • Add To Cart
    • Save Now
    • Checkout Now
I'll defer to the joint opinions of "She that must
be obeyed" and Mr Myers on the choice of colour. ;-)

As a college student, that doesn't distract me or deter me from buying. I feel it should be different and bold from the rest of the page. You have my vote.

Michael, I actually like it, but I'm color blind so you really can't go by me.

And yes, my wife goes shopping with me when I pick out clothes too.

Otherwise, I'd end up looking like a zebra in heat.

I'm not a pro but in my opinion I don't really like the Adsense. It kinda drives me away from the page.Everything kinda looks crunched in. I think what would make it look better is removing the things on the left column and just making the middle fit the whole page.Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks

    Sorry Michael, but yuk!

Given the site's colour scheme, you know what might work here and is apparently wildly tested in a variety of niches, is the Belcher button.

Belcher Button | Perry Belcher Top Cinverting But Button

At least the actual button, maybe not the dotted line etc. As JT said, maybe experiment with the wording too.

And of course you could make your own at Da Button Factory

Yeah I must admit I'm with your wife on this one too.

I also recommend the Belcher button, although I haven't been using it long enough to really see how well it converts

Since I obviously don't want the page indexed I'm taking it down

Thanks again to everyone who commented

    Hi Michael,

You need to post here more often because you are missed!

I'm not crazy about those buttons either. They seem to distract from your message.

Why is it every time I see your picture, I want to go watch one of the earlier James Bond movies?

Take care and I hope your health is much better.
