Do Your Really Think the WF is Falling Apart?

Long gone are the days when it meant something to be a Marketing Warrior.

I think we're really seeing the end of this place. Most of the good guys have moved on and moved up, as have the ideas, the energy and the passion to break new ground, to make a difference and to make a bunch of goddam money.
That was part of a reply to a thread I posted yesterday. Granted I think he was replying more to my choice of subject line than anything else, but still...

Does anyone really think that the WF is coming to an end?

Personally I love the WF. It's the only place that I can come and talk to people about IM and they actually understand what I'm talking about. I've checked out some of the other IM forums they just don't seem to be of the same caliber. Do I think the WF is dying? Hell No! But I do think you have to take it for what it is and not give it some illusion of grandeur.

I don't know if the old forum had this, but if you click on the top of the replies column on the new forum it will sort the forum by most replies. You can do this for views too, but the list will come out pretty close to the same way. I do this periodically just to see what gets the most people talking, and about a week ago I noticed that 4 out of the top 8 threads all had to do with what avatar people were using. That's what got people talking.

One of those threads happens to be mine, and I was talking to another Warrior about how everybody had latched on to that post and kept replying to it. I made the comment that you could make The Most Glorious IM Post ever and it would get completely ignored, but if in a moment of weakness you start talking about somebody's avatar, you literally can't get people to stop talking about it.

Yes we are an IM forum, but we're still a forum. The content that gets noticed here is the content that people reply to regardless of how great the content is. That's the nature of the beast. If you want your posts to get read, then you have to post something that people will reply to and 9 times out of 10 it takes more than simply making a good informational post.

On the flip side of that, I would say that the WF is still a powerful source of knowledge even if not all of the best posts get recognized. I personally have dozens of threads saved on my computer for easy reference. Any time I want to find out about a new strategy, I come to the WF and do a search.

To say that all the good guys have left is not just an insult to everyone that is here, it's just plain ignorant. Yeah maybe a lot of the Warriors that were popular a few years ago aren't here now, but the new blood coming in are the ones that are paving the way and they have a lot of new ideas to offer.

I also love the War Room. If you haven't joined yet, do so now. Whatever you pay you will get back in an hour or so of reading. But more importantly this is the place that Allen created to be specifically for informational posts only. It's a completely different dynamic than the main forum. If you don't like the main forum, then just stay in the War Room and don't come play with the rest of us.

If your disagree feel free to flame at your leisure.

Seriously, I've never felt so good about the warrior forum... It's LOADS better now since the "power mad" mod feeling has gone away.

I felt like you had to be careful what you said in here, like really careful - now it seems open, honest and HELPFUL.

People make a forum, and the people here generally are good people.

The Warrior Forum is what it is...a forum.

Two things basically make up this forum.

        1. Allen Says - Whatever he does to add to the features of this forum in
order to make it a more pleasurable experience, makes up part of this forum.

But only a part. Pretty bells and whistles and functionality will only make a
forum go so far. Eventually, the novelty wears off and what you have left
        is...

        2. The Members - This forum, in the grand scheme of things, will be what WE
make it. If we want it to be great, WE have to make it great.

Problem is, greatness is in the eye of the beholder. Not every Warrior
        will have the same definition.

To some, it will mean lots of informative posts so that they can learn more
about marketing and improve their businesses.

To some, it will mean lots of posts where people bitch and complain because
they just love to bitch and complain.

To some, it will mean just having some nice people to chat with.

To some, it will mean having the WSO section to either get stuff at a great
price or offer their own stuff.

There are people I never see in the main forum and yet they're almost
        constantly hanging out at OT.

        Different strokes for different folks.

So ultimately, this forum will be what we make it.

        Nothing more...nothing less.

I don't come here to get my posts noticed, I come here to learn and share.

If I make a post that I think is helpful and no one reads it or replies...I don't care.

If I make a comment that is of value and it gets ignored, I don't care.

But I certainly will not just randomly start a thread in order for it (or me) to be seen, thats just me.

Could I start a shitstorm with a controversial or totally opinionated thread title? Yup. Unless I want to spark up a debate on something that having both sides explained and defended on would be of value to the community, then I have no need to.

I think that about sums up my thoughts too, Keith. We are here to learn and share and I think it was yesterday Steven brought up a good point with all of us having room to learn, no matter what level.

We can all also share and be friends here in the forum at any level.

I'd say that the forum as a whole is pretty awesome plus it makes me a lot of money and I contribute a lot of my own money to this forum.

There are always going to be plenty of good posts and plenty of bad posts no matter what forum you're in.

WF is us. We or you determine the fate of WF. If you feel that way and like WF, go do something about it. Contribute to IM, share ideas, that what WF means to me.

        Winkypee,

Good point. We all make WF a place we wanted it to be.

I wouldn't think so..as long as there are people who want to learn and share what they have learned at the same time, WF will stay strong..no doubt about it >",<

I did for a moment when I saw your avatar.

Was thinking it's the end. lol

Shows how powerful an image can be.

From my point of view the WF is better than ever but I can see how some old timers don't really dig some of the vibes going on at times within some of the threads being posted. Maybe I never noticed it before but some people really love drama.

Let's face it... Controversial threads will get way more people reading like crazy and ranting in most cases and I know this first hand and watched in the back ground in amazement as people jumped into a burning thread on a thread related to one of my controversial products. The thread was burning on fire within only about 1/2 hour. Everything worked out fine except the thread was deleted but I was very wise to stay out of the fire because ---- would have really hit the fan.

What I've tried to do with the new forum is do my best to keep my emotions in check because this is an Internet marketing forum and sometimes I forget that fact and there are so many threads that grab me to the point of wanting to rant.

I think I'm starting to rant here. Opps!

I never noticed this before so something has changed within me and the new forum vibe but at least I'm aware of it. Yesterday, I was wondering where some of the old timers went?

Oh! WAIT! Maybe they moved on like mentioned in an earlier post here.

I'm sure some will be back because I noticed a long time member was back after a couple months just the other day...

            Cheers,

              Hey guys,

To be 100% honest, I think the forum is a lot more vibrant now than it was say 6 months or a year ago...

I only have to look at my post count to realise that, it seems to have gone up leaps and bounds over the last few weeks, and that's because I'm really enjoying coming here and participating, helping out, just chatting, whatever. It wasn't always that way...

I've also noticed a lot of new blood in here...don't know if that's related or even true, may just be my perception because I'm in here a lot more...

Still, I like it a lot, this forum is a very cool place to be right now...

One thing I've noticed in a lot of different formats...whether it be forums, towns, schools, churches....pretty much any social orginization.

You will hear people talking about how things are going down the tube, drain, **er. What you can usually (not always but usually) read that as...

Things are different than they used to be and I don't like it.

Fact is, some people do not like things changing. They don't even care if it is for the better or worse. It just better not change.

      Exactly Keith.

It's a total waste of time and the efforts of those who do it are usally completely transparent.

In my eyes it knocks those people down a few notches who do it and I make a mental note of it.

Then I automatically pay less attention to their future posts since their contribution is worthless and a waste of my time.

personally I have only just joined, but to date I think it's a helpful forum with some useful perspectives and information. Maybe I'll change my mind in a few years, but for the moment i'm finding it very good
