Niche for Affiliate Marketing

I'm determined to get into affiliate marketing. I'll do the list, blog, squeeze page, all that..
But I've been stumped for the last couple of days about what to do it on!
I would've just picked something with high demand but I want to choose something that I already have a lot of knowledge about but more importantly something that I can talk about to my subscribers every day!

There are only a few things I'm passionate/knowledgable about and I can't seem to make them work.
What I know about:

Anime/manga - I'd want to do a mincroniche in anime or manga as they are so broad, but every micro niche doesn't seem to have many monthly searches (all under 300)

skateboarding/surfing - Seems to be lots of high competition in these, shoudl that deter me? Would I narrow it down to something a lot smaller like skate shoes or surf wax (lol)?

... actually that's about all I'm knowledgable about, but I have a couple more things I like, such as: spearfishing, fishing, working out (huge competition)..

Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hey,

I also have the same passion for manga drawing as well!

Having said that, this is what you should do if you are new to internet marketing.

    1. Go to Google and type the niche you like forums such as this. Like manga forums, spearfishing forums etc.

    2. Register and join as member.

    3. Introduce yourself and get connected to other members by asking questions or helping them with their questions or problems.

    4. Once you got hold of their common needs and problems, create a free report based on what you know in either Open Office or MS Word before publishing as PDF.

    5. Sign up for Clickbank as affiliate and find affiliate programs related to your niche. Sign up for at least 3-4 programs.

    6. Build a squeeze page using either Kompozer or Optimize Press with your Clickbank affiliate link.

    7. Sign up for Aweber and create a listing related to your niche before connecting to squeeze page and typing autoresponder emails.

    8. Besides forum posting, you can also drive traffic to your squeeze page with article marketing, blog commenting, bookmarking, classified advertising and Youtube marketing.

If you got money to spend or make some money using those free methods, you might consider doing Facebook ads.

Speaking of Facebook, you can also search for groups related to animate manga or other niches as well.

Same like forum, get connected, ask questions and help members before adding them as friends, create your own group and invite them.

Oh wow, thanks a lot for the tips and advice!

Yeah I am having a lot of trouble picking a niche though. I really want to do anime, could I simply just do anime?

So let me get this straight. The squeeze page is for the opt-in to my list. And the actual affiliate links get sent out to subscribers with the autoresponder?

If you want, I can do a squeeze page and pick affiliate programs for you. Just PM me for further details.

However, please be decisive. If I were you, I just picked one niche which is animate or manga drawing.

I appreciate that, but I need the practice..
Also, what would the squeeze page be for, to get subscribers, or to get a sale?

It seems like a couple of good niches to me. Besides shoes/wax, there's clothing, gear, wheels, trucks (or whatever you call them now), boards, etc.

Don't let the competition scare you off. You can easily rank for some long tail keyword phrases while working on other, less specific keywords related to your niche.

The only way to really tell is to get a site up, throw up some articles and reviews, get some backlinks, build a little buzz about your site, do a few press releases, and see what happens.

Do that for 3 to 6 months and if you're not seeing a good return, then consider selling it on Flippa, or just keep it and let it be a consistent income generator for you.

Take what you learned from building this site and build another. Then another.

      spearfishing, fishing, working out
I'd guess that these offer the best potential.

If I had to pick one I'd go for working out. But, I'd drill down further to find my exact niche. So, for example some of the 'sub-niches' you might consider are - working out for busy moms, working out for overweight people, working out for body builders, working out to win marathons etc etc. Just depends on what you actually know about 'working out'.

Seems like some very solid advice to me, thanks! If I choose to be an affiliate of say skateboarding products, what kind of site are you talking about then? Just a simple blog with some informative posts? I'm very new so, how exactly does the affiliate marketing come into play on a blog? Can I get permission from a skateboarding website to sell their products on my blog? Like just stick them in a blog post occasionally? Or what? Thanks!

Affiliate marketing is amazing but can take time - that said, I'd urge you to go into a niche that you have a lot of interest in. That way it won't seem like as much work!
The skateboarding / surfing areas sound like they captivate your interest. And TONS of products within, and multiple categories to promote. Hard goods, education, soft goods (clothing). I'd run with that as it sounds like you already have a lot of good information to offer.

No one will shows their own examples. So you need to do googling yourself then you will find them.

If you see a niche which has high competition, you consider to generate traffic from social media networks, forums, blogs, etc, without the Google.

i think you can check a good and high gravity product thats in your subject and find the keywords related to it and just open a product review site

dont forget of cores to give good value

    check this product review site

this is my product review site, the site is not 100% complete but its a good example for what you can do

you don't' need to worry about finding niches, that's the vendors job not the affiliates.

As an affiliate all you have to do is find an offer that converts well, has high EPC's and decent payouts.

Then simply send traffic. You don't have to have a passion for it, you don't have to know anything about it, all you need to do is drive traffic to the offer

Competition is a good thing OP. It shows a healthy market where there is money to be made.

It will make it easy to find your target audience online and there will be plenty of products to sell to them.

What you are saying is true there is no requirement to have any passion about what you are promoting but most people are unable to stay motivated and focused and work on projects they have no interest in or knowledge on.

It's a hard ask especially for a newcomer to IM. Doing something on a topic you know well and enjoy makes it much easier.

Make sure your content is focusing on an issue that's related to the affiliate offer. For example, if I am promoting some type of travel insurance service, then my blog content would be about luxury travel, best places for vacations, best hotels and car rentals; all of these subjects have a relationship with travel insurance.
