How Often Do You Go On Holidays - The Full Time IMers I mean

How often do you guys take a break from work in a year - I'm taking about week long/month long holidays? Do you plan your holidays in advance or take short breaks between busy schedules?

I personally plan my holidays well in advance and go on mountaineering expeditions spanning several weeks, but the problem is if for any reason I'm forced to cancel my leaves, it ends up becoming all work and no play for me for the entire year .

I usually plan two big holidays in a year.

How do you guys take break from work?

I am so not a vacation person. However, when I do go out, I make sure to queue up my emails during the week so my business runs on autopilot.

When Hurricane Sandy hit 2 years go, I did the same - was out of power for 9 days but since I scheduled out everything, no problems there. Wrote Easy Frankenstorm Profits after that as well.

    Hope that helps!

I do a lot of travelling and spent 2009 and 2010 travelling the world :-)

My wife is now a teacher in a school so we get long summer holidays :-)

I also disappear on my bike a number of weekends throughout the year :-)

I would concentrate on the whole 4 hour work week, but I do 4 hours per day right now not per day. The rest of the time I do stuff that I like doing, and researching topics that interest me, like thailand.

Thats probably what the dot com lifestyle is about. You research stuff because you like them and then suddenly that research starts making money for you.

I go on a week to 2 week vacation every 3 months.

It's nice to recharge the batteries and go away for a while

I plan the same every year, but things always don't fall in place and sometimes I have to cancel my holiday trips.

I like golfing everyday, that's my big 'time away from the comp' activity

In terms of big breaks, don't take many

I hit the gym everyday and also swim regularly, but those have so much become a part of my life that I keep forgetting those are away from the comp activities.

I'm a curmudgeon... I've never been much of a vacationer...

My idea of vacation is installing a fresh Operating System on a new machine and playing video games.

(Okay, and maybe some pizza + beer).

I envy some warriors on the thread because they can keep traveling across the world and still manage work efficiently, but installing OS and pizzas - would pay to get away from them

I just came back from a cruise to the Bahamas. DEFINITELY going again next year. Me and my babyboo might tackle Vegas later on this year.... it's in the works. Website is on autopilot. Takes me about 1 1/2 hour to get my free marketing in.

4-5 times a year. For about 1-2 weeks each time. I don't stay for too long though, around the one week mark I just want to get back to work from all the build up of ideas I get when overseas lol.

It's healthy and helps when I get burnt out + I try spend 2k MAX on each trip so I can do it more often.

I pretty much work every day in the fall, ski every day in the winter, work all spring then hit the beach every nice day in the summer!

Just got back from a 6 week vacation from Fort Lauderdale Florida, before that I my friends skiing in Montreal and before that 6 nights in Manhattan Christmas shopping & Broadway shows (book of mormon/rockettes) in Manhattan with my girlfriend in December.

After months of working crazy hours launching a product, I usually take off to Disney and Universal Studios for a week to unwind and just have pure fun.

My first year marketing online full time I spent $80,000 on travel according to my accountant LOL!

When you have the time and money why not see the world the most you can?

I travel less now that i'm in a serious long term relationship where my girlfriend has a full time job but still sneak away about 6 times per year... Even just making the most of a long weekend when you can counts.

I take about five days off 5-6 times a year. In my opinion, holidays are the part of life most worth living.

Pretty much only twice per year.

My focus is not on vacation time but more about building up my assets.

Not only that but I work only 2 hours per day on my internet business and make sure I have a pretty balanced life so I don't necessarily burn out like others who work 10 or more hours a day.

Oh and I guess I better point out that when I say I work 2 hours day I don't mean that is just me and nothing else gets done. I do have outsourcers/employees who do work 8 hour shifts on my business. So I am leveraging others time and efforts.

My goal is to build my business so it can run without me there.

Once that is done then I build another business

And then sure at some point when my cashflow is way higher than my expenses I might "retire" like others and vacation for 6 months out of the year, lol.

    I live on holiday.

Well that's what all my friends and family think anyway.

Apparently because you live in Thailand you must be living it up all the time, sipping cocktails on the beach and lazing around by the pool.

    That's only half true.

People don't understand just like they live in the UK. I live in Bangkok.

It's the same just a different county.

And just because I work online doesn't mean I don't work hard or just sit about all day drinking coffee and messing around online.

    Again only half true.

But anyway to answer your question, no set amount of time, I take a weekends / weeks off here and there to go visit places.

I've traveled a lot in the past few years and prefer to stay put in one place at the moment than be globe trotting.

I haven't taken a big holiday where I did no work for about 2 years.
