Where to find post ID in wordpress?

Hi Warriors!

I am trying to add a site map to my wp site with the PS Auto SiteMap
it asks me to add a page with the code and then in settings to add the post id

where do I find the post id?

or do you have another suggestion for a good sitemap plugin?

I already have the google sitemap on but would like to add one that shows say....a tree or similar for everything that is on my site so my readers can see it all at a glance.

thanks for your help in advance!
Kymmy

  • Kymmy,

With Wordpress your going to need ids for a multitude of things so just download this plugin from wordpress.org (Sorry, I don't have enough post to give you the link)

Look for: Reveal IDs for WP Admin

This plugin allows you to view ids for all posts, pages, and categories. (and its free)

    Hope it helps,
    Virginia

A few months ago I started always loading "Reveal IDs for WP Admin" to all my WP installs. This plugin reveals all the post, page, link and category ID's and there are lots of times you might want to know that, as in your situation.

So I would recommend going to your plugins area, click on ADD NEW, then copy the above into the search box, then you can install the plugin directly from your admin panel.

    Cheers

        • Your telling me I've been hand coding (using WP functions/code) the exclusion of pages from the navigation bar for no reason. I wish I knew about this plugin earlier.

          Thanks Sue,

          • Kymmy,

And for Categories, the ID is in parenthesis next to the name of the category.

And your welcome - Glad to help - Anytime

so, I have downloaded the plugin and saved the options as shown....now where is it that the actual page id shows up?

I just need to find the id to add to a plugins setting page for a sitemap!

and thanks Pete - I already have pretty permalinks but this plugin page wants an id number!

great work girls - please help me finish it off!

Go to your list of Pages or Posts, etc.. the ID is listed at the far right hand side.

if you edit a post, look in your address bar, should be listed there in the syntax.
