I got a bit caught up mucking around on Twitter this morning and was wondering what kind of experiences others are having with using Twitter either for business or pleasure at the moment. I've read a bit of hype about making money using twitter, mostly written in the first 12 months after it launched. I haven't used it much but I see a lot of spam and not much else coming through. Personally I struggle to see how it could be a very effective tool...

I think its a big waste of time. 90% of the updates are spam. And the other 10% is people saying goodmorning or goodnight.

It's too chaotic, time consuming and irrelevant to be of any use to me personally. I just don't get the hype.

    Twitter traffic = Digg traffic

Don't use it to try and generate sales, because you won't. Twitter users are simply too tech savvy, instead use it as a publicity tool to get the people who matter (bloggers, media, jv partners) talking about you and your product and in turn they will go and generate the sales for you.

It's easy to combat the spamTwits...just stop following them...

I'll admit I'm not quite hip to Twitter yet, but I'm willing to give it a go and see what happens. Already people in my niche have started following me. I dont' really see them as potential customers, but they have websites, and at some point, I'll ask them to be my affiliate.

Not yet, though, I want to make sure they're not obnoxious spammers first!
