I noticed that the vast majority of people hate affiliate links.
But how come? Well to tell you the truth, at the beginning of my IM career I didn't like affiliate links either and I rarely joined anything through them. However, as time passed by, I began to realize that I was acting foolishly. I'm a member of several CPA, affiliate companies and I manage to earn a good amount of money from some of them. A lot of the companies that I work with have all been revealed to me by other internet marketers. What I'm trying to say here is, if someone mentions a GOOD company to you, doesn't he deserve to get a little credit? Nowadays, I would gladly join a good company from an affiliate link and the reason behind this is simple. If it wasn't for this certain person to tell me about that company, I may have never found it and made MONEY with it's program! Now I'm not saying that I would join a company through an affiliate link that was provided by someone who doesn't care about his readers. But, if the writer offers value & help then yes, I'll gladly join something from his affiliate link. What do you guys think about this? Did you ever join or buy something from an affiliate link? Thanks for reading

LOL I got an angry email the other day from a blog reader, he claimed he "knew what I was up to" and that "it wasn't fair for people who don't have their own website". I think people avoid it because they tend to feel like they are being used as a tool to make money for somebody else or that maybe the person posting that link doesn't have the readers best interest in mind since money is involved. I've personally never had a problem with affiliate links, never knew anybody who did, and chances are 95% of people on the internet wouldn't be able to identify an affiliate link when they see it.

Yes I agree with you p2y, outside of the IM world the vast majority of people would not know what an affilaite link was if it them in the face. I believe some people will not buy something from an affiliate link because they are spiteful and do not want to see other people making money. (Especially if they arent.) Some are also wary of affiliate links because they believe the affiliate is just trying to make a sale.

It doesn't matter to me if I learn about a product/service from an affiliate link as long as the offer is good.
However, if I'm be bombarded by lots of marketers for the same product (i.e. product launches) I'll only buy using the link from someone I respect - if they're offering additional bonuses to buy using their affiliate link that is a minor plus. |

I've bought from several affiliate links where I know the marketer, and the offering has clear value. In some cases, it's the bonus offer; in others, no bonuses needed.
I detest pitches promoting affiliate links where the product is crappy, or recycled; where the intent is to squeeze, rather than provide value. 90% of the affiliate links I see are of the second type; and that could explain part of why many people don't like affiliate links. |

I'm totally fine with purchasing through affiliate links. I do it all the time with technology review sites. I have never purchased anything through CB, though. I haven't found anything that I needed on there!
